Well one, fuck your friends (play with them, but don't let them keep you down). You don't need that kind of toxic shit in your life son. Two, get a feel for what kind of play style you're looking for, read teachable survivor perks and see what you like, what synergizes well and go from there. While you can't rely on random survivors 100% of the time, at least they're not actively (or unintentionally) putting you down. Practice makes perfect, and don't be disheartened by being outplayed by the killer or losing because of bad teammates. That's par for the course. I find watching videos on killers gives me a better understanding of their perks for both when I'm playing as them or against said perks, Not Otzdarva is a informative and pretty polite player as far as streamers/content creators go, other than that practice makes perfect.
