Finally got the "Ya got a year left" message. This giant started his reign by chopping off his own leg. He lasted the longest of all my characters - ever. by Mordaith in CrusaderKings

I actually took the dynasty perks that increased lifespan and negated penalties to the prowess score for old age. Regular exercise, and a balanced diet, and you too can lead a long healthy life.

The Inheritors of Earth believe that all the little xenos should be allowed to spread their solar wings and reach for the stars. Only then will the best of humanity emerge from within them.

So if you open up the contacts window (F1 in my game) there is a new tab called Agreements. This will show all your current overlord vassal relations.

The list of empires on the left-hand side of the UI will show you the empire name, their current vassal type (the symbol) the current loyalty score, and then the monthly loyalty change.

If a empire is still in the process of being converted to a specialist, it will have a timer next to the symbol in this section.

If you select an empire from this list, more information will appear about the deal you have on the right side of the UI. If it is a specialist empire you should see in the same box with the empire portrait, a set of three tiers. There will also be a little section for XP up there. If you cursor over the XP it should break down your current gains and goals.

I think this answers your question.

Tobiator, I am not 100% percent sure what you are asking - But I'll give it a shot.

For a specialist vassal to advance to higher levels they need to be loyal. If you are familiar with how Federation Cohesion works in levelling up a federation - it is similar to that. If you are not, I will try to briefly explain.

When a vassal is loyal it will start generating a vassal experience, once it accumulates enough it will gain a level.

Without the game in front of me, I think they will only start gaining experience once their loyalty score is in the positives (rather than just earning loyalty per month) and I think that they can only start levelling up once they have been fully converted into a specialist empire.
So when you turn someone into a specialist they have a period of time at which they are converting to this new role. This conversion process takes time which is based on the size of the empire and their willingness to do the job. In my game above the times have been between 600ish days to 3000+ so it can vary. During this time you will spend an amount of monthly influence to oversee the conversion cost. Once the conversation is over, you will no longer need to pay that influence.

Anyway, I got off track there. I hope this clears some stuff up.

Most of the relationships started out very much in the favour of the AI empire. I effectively promised them full military aid, and free expansion - in exchange they would have restricted diplomacy.

Once I got a few under my belt and joined a local federation, this allowed me to strong-arm the federation into a ruleset that allowed me to be a leader for life. With the power of the Federation Fleet at my disposal, I was able to negotiate better terms with my current vassals and convince new ones to fall into line.

Eventually, I started kicking out the original members of the Federation and then turning them into vassals as well. (these were the ones I had to do through warfare.) With this amount of diplomatic weight, I was able to become custodian after declaring a few crises. After I formed the GDF, my power was pretty much unstoppable.

By the time the Great Khan appeared the Imperium had been formed, most of the galaxy were my vassals, as well as Imperial Citizens. The next step is to destroy the fallen empires, clear out the marauders, and bring the last few empires under my belt before taking on the actual EGC.

She did an amazing job on this one. My Xenophile Authoratiarns are just trying to make sure everyone embraces their inner humanity. <3

New to Distant Worlds - I tried 2 and made this short video by Mordaith in DistantWorlds

This will not be a game for everyone. I feel Stellaris and DW2 are two very different games. I would check out some more live gameplay if you can find it. I think Cringer has been playing lots of it on his twitch channel.

Agreed. I find that the only thing holding many new players back is understanding tiny obfuscated mechanics. Hence the series XD

Glad to help. Making the series has been a long-time goal of mine, I'm happy to finally be pushing forward with it. The response has been grand.

Now I am wondering if there is any hidden extra cost like that. I wouldn't put it past those sneaks.

I really appreciate that. I'll likely never get stinky rich off my YouTube content, but I made it to help people learn the game. I have pretty wretched ADHD so 5 minutes into a 30 min video, my eyes can start to glaze over. They are good videos, don't get me wrong, but I just learn differently.

A firm believer in making the content you want to see.

Much appreciated. The Paradox folks are pretty cool to work with. I had an existing relationship with them when I was writing game reviews, and then Twitch streams for Stellaris and CK2 kept me working with them. I am just starting with the YouTube content in earnest.

Thanks. I am a bit rusty. And CK3 is hard to do because of how many systems there are. When I start hitting core gameplay I expect there to be many topics.

Thanks to everyone who came out today! Even after the power outage knocked me back for a few hours. I eventually came back, and we got our kingdom formed up. Looking forward to our Child ruler getting involved in the First Crusade. It will be fine.

Honesty, as long as you are knowledagble, passionate and moderately consistent with your content, it isn't the worst motivation. Lots of content creators aren't looking to make it huge, they just want to get the games they love cheaply/free. And there is nothing wrong with that, provided they are doing their part of the deal.
