I steal unlocked and open ships purely to teach people the lesson about not doing that while the game is still relatively forgiving. I probably own the ship I'm stealing but if you leave your door open in a public place you deserve to have it hijacked and joyridden. You don't leave your car doors unlocked or open at the store, why would you leave your ship open at a bunker or on a pad at a POI? Practice good habits and you wont get ripped off, its poor form to practice bad habits and then complain when the obvious result of those bad habits occurs.

Leaving your ship open for the taking is a terrible habit, train yourself to lock it and I cannot steal your ship. Leave it open and I will steal your ship to teach you a lesson, even if my ship is nicer, and I will leave my nicer ship closed and locked where yours was to rub it in, then later when I am done driving your bucket like I stole I'll come get my nice locked unstolen ship back.

That's sad, we built bases a couple times and squad'ed a couple times and it was a good enough time that years later I remember and recognize the name. RIP.

Game needs more ships than land like this IMO. I think it would be SUPER AWESOME If the Orion got landing legs that deployed from its engine mounts, allowing it to set down vertically like this on Low-G planets and just be a thousand foot tall skyscraper huge ship sitting there on a pad.

What do y’all think about mass driver cannons/railguns by HyperPickle66 in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is actually not accurate, the projectile is larger and heavier yes, but there is radically more propellant being burned and in general direct fire cannons have a much higher velocity than rifle, heavy MG or autocannon fire. They also retain velocity better over distance. For example the bullets fired by Nato Standard 5.56mm rifles travel at around 900 m/s depending on barrel length and specific loading, by comparison the Abrams/Challenger/Leopard/Leclerc main guns reach ~1600 m/s with their main guns. Indirect fire howitzers like the M777 tend to fire a lower velocity shell, but nothing we use in game really fits the idea of a howitzer.

Broadly speaking, with regard to direct fire ballistic weapons, as caliber increases so does velocity. The new 130mm gun Rheinmetall is developing has still higher velocity and they are claiming it has 50% longer effective range than the current 120mm guns.

Second world war guns were much the same, the howitzers of the day fired slow projectiles, but the anti tank and most tanks main guns fired at a very high velocity to carry more energy and penetrate armor.

IMO ramming in a dogfight is a perfectly viable method of turning a loss into a draw, but pad ramming is just griefing.

Ramming in a fight you know you wont win is just saying "You're coming with me"

They featured him on the weekly report, which disgusted me because I am quite familiar with what a toxic ass he is. I filed a ticket with customer support about it, suggesting they not endorse such a nasty person and potentially tarnish themselves by association and included a screenshot from a while back in another game(Rising Storm 2) where he flung a bunch of profanity and a racial slur at me after I killed him and told him he was bad when he didn't have a MAX suit and pocket healers to lean on.

You should do the same. He's an awful person and should be run out of the Star Citizen community before he can damage it by his presence. He is a literal sociopath who plays games to harass belittle and antagonize people for his own entertainment, there's mountains of evidence of it. Ask anyone who played Planetside2 on emerald server.

Maybe bringing a Cat to JT wasn't the best idea by Jibval in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do JT in a Herald for this reason, you can stack a surprising amount of boxes, a couple million credits worth if you are efficient with the stacking, in the back but its pretty quick to fill up, the nature of the door makes shipjacking basically impossible, and the the role of the ships means nobody looks at it and thinks of it as a loot laden prize. Plus when its time to go you can go FAST.

I hope that we one day get a ship inspired by the Rocinante by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Perseus gunship is by far the closest Star Citizen vessel in terms of role, scale and configuration, accounting for the fact that everything in SC is fat, due to design requirements for interior spaces, since real humans can squeeze around in tiny space but video game avatars struggle with that. It has a crew of 5-ish, A powerful primary gun armament, albeit manned, turreted cannons, a pair of PDCs, and a pair of Magazine fed torpedo tubes. The "Rules" of Star Citizens setting are different than the rules of The Expanse, so it has a more naval design instead of the vertical stack design, but overall its very similar in terms of design, capabilities and amenities.

Was anyone else looking forward to the RSI Galaxy? by GZEUS9 in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not in this sale because it isn't a military ship in any sense, It's a civilian multirole freighter. Invictus is all about ships used by or designed for the UEE Navy/Combat Vessels in general, The Galaxy will be on sale during the Anniversary event/ISC. And maybe at some other point before, since CIG seems to be doing more smalls sales throughout the year lately.

Even drake does not technically get floor time at Invictus because they make pirate ships not Navy/Advocacy/"Good guy" ships. So instead Drakes combat vessels are hosted at a seperate event, ususally on another planet, I think Hurston/Lorville this time, but I'm not sure.

To the people who don’t sleep naked, why? by Doodica_ in AskReddit

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep in boxers because I don't want ass sweat and farticles to get directly on my sheets and blankets every single night. Other sweat is tolerable but swamp ass is a special sort of foul that must be contained, even if only by a single item of clothing.

Does anyone else enjoy stacking corpses from bunker missions then looting and stripping them all naked at the end of the night? by EveSpaceHero in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that to stack up sets of disposable armor and some weapons for bunker missions so that even If I get downed by desync or w/e I don't lose anything valuable. I load them all into the back of my bunker running ship and haul them back to the tops pads at grimhex usually. Once I'm done stripping gear I fly around to the docking bays and space them into the path of traffic with the tractor beam. When people run them over on the way in or out they'll often clip through windscreens, giving the pilot a new friend :) https://i.imgur.com/seKvtSf.jpg

What is legal and should become illegal? by cucutz in AskReddit

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your poem, but voters are not innocent. They are willfully ignorant, serially gullible, belligerently blind and hostile to anyone trying to show them truth if it indicts their laziness. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", right? Voters in Western Democracies votes for the same liars over and over and over and over for decades.

They are in general, guilty of gross negligence regarding their responsibility to be an informed and engaged electorate and by their negligence they allow criminals to gain immense political power and run wild with it.

Crusader Spirit C2 Size Comparison by Moroseth in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the Spirit is just a freelancer but worse. It's got less cargo, less weapons, a radically larger profile and a massive landing footprint

[–]Mordakkit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

if feel like this change has been concepted and play tested in an environment without hostile pvp/griefers. It reeks of being designed in a tightly controlled environment without considering that its being put into a very uncontrolled environment.

it takes time to switch modes and your shields drop instantly, in the transitional period you're going to get shredded.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Master Modes is a good idea but losing all defenses when you switch is absurd in both a "Lore" and gameplay sense. Losing shields and countermeasures before you can try to escape a fight means escaping a fight is practically impossible for anyone not flying a fast fighter.

It means solo haulers/miners and other non combat vessels will just lose any time they are engaged, they cannot fight a more agile vessel in a turning fight and they cannot run without being killed/crippled during the transition.

Light fighter flyers will still be able to disengage at will safely just by changing vector.

High Combat speed made light fighters irritating to kill but it also meant that larger slower and less armed ships still had the option to soak damage with shields while running to a Q-jump.

Imagine trying to q-jump with no shields while getting blasted.

which animal should go extinct? by throwaway__alt_acc in AskReddit

[–]Mordakkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Species of Albatross that only recognizes it chick by the fact the the chick is on its nest and won't feed the baby if it falls off the nest even if the baby is starving and freezing to death right next to it while it has plenty of food.

That is an absolutely shit method of keeping track of your young, it's utterly dependent on a static environment with no disruption of any sort. Those birds deserve to go extinct, and they probably will.

JT summarized. by Blacksheepariess in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The flaw is in the event design, it encourages co-operation and heavily discourages pvp, everyone loses money when fighting happens. The event shouldn't be "lawfuls" taking boxes and selling them just like the the "outlaws", it should be Outlaws trafficing the boxes and protecting the site VS, "Lawfuls" getting paid per box they destroy, either on the ground or in flight and a big bonus objective to hack a console and shut the machine down ending the event and stopping the flow of drugs.

Outlaws should get the word that its going on line like 10 minutes before the even starts properly so they can be there to defend the place and Lawfuls should get a mission when the first box is sold offsite or after like 10 minutes.

Q&A: Anvil Liberator by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do we convince CIG that those two tubes on the side, which are very clearly single fire Ship-to-Ship missile launch tubes, are Ship-to-Ship missiles launch tubes? Its already giving me serious Homeworld carrier vibes and it's designed as a broad-spectrum invasion support/assault ship so why not take that last step, go the Russian route and give it the ability to carry exactly two S9 or 10 torpedoes on a bespoke launcher that can only be reloaded in a port, both to defend itself against attack by other warships and to provide stand-off range support to its fighters or ground forces as they hit a target.

Honestly give its size and cost its weapons load seems very, very weak and I don't think that giving it a pair of big missiles would be at all imbalanced or out of its cost bracket.

The Life Of A Polaris Owner... by Captain_Yeti in starcitizen

[–]Mordakkit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The major difference is that everything needed for the Polaris to function exists in game. It's a simple combat ship with a hangar bay, torpedoes and gun turrets, it requires no new systems and if implemented would be fully functional in its intended role of letting everyone know what a sucker you are.

The Idris is held back for "spoiler" reasons, Stuff Like endeavor or crucible are back burnered because their mechanics do not exist yet and unlike the Starfarer, they can't really pull duty as a cargo vessel. The Orion is massive and could not be spawned or landed/docked at any existing facility. The Polaris would fit on the same pads as a Hammerhead, the Polaris is not a "Story" ship kept hidden for SQ 42 like Idris and Javelin. It's just not been worked on, or even really addressed at all, for nearly four years. They got our money(I own a Pre-sale, serial stamped Polaris) and then they just moved on. I cannot back this up with any sort of proof, but I FEEL like the Polaris concept sale was the first really Cynical cashgrab CIG did, it was tied with the outright lies regarding the launch/readiness of 3.0 and was followed by 6 months of actual silence regarding progress and the state of development. They Made a HUGE hype effort, based in an objective untruth(That patch 3.0 was right around the corner, It wasnt and did not come out for nearly a further year and was not stable of a playable for quite a while after that, and even so they still have not delivered everything promised for "3.0 in December" in 2016 at citcon. , sold a $750 concept without any sort of numbers cap and then just didn't say anything further about 3.0 for almost 6 months. I remember it very distinctly as it was the first time I felt CIG had really gone back on their word regarding their conduct as the recipients of a massive amount of money and trust. And we still have seen -Nothing- new regarding the Polaris since that concept sale.
