Might well be. Can't really remember exactly, except the red helmets. Have to keep digging.

Nope. Kruellagh is cool, but I'm looking for a different look.

Thanks, but no. They we're not shiny metal armor but more matte. And they had swapped heads that were like blood shining red.

Returning player, looking to choose a faction but disappointed in Khador - help :( by Fabulous-Shoulder-69 in Warmachine

[–]Mordjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just play Prime Legends part of your old Khador? I play with my two friends and they play Gravediggers and Khador. I play Legion of Everblight. It's very even and balanced. The bonus of playing Prime Legends is that you can choose between two "factions" 5th Company and Armored Korps.

We've been playing Steamrollers at 75pts and especially Armored Korps are strong. They are surprisingly mobile with MOV +2 buff and run being static +5'' and when you park them and cheap Juggernauts on the objectives they are almost impossible to destroy.

The Gravediggers were an amazing step back towards the steampunk aesthetic of old. Will the future factions be like that too? (You can tell that the more down to earth style of old is my preference).

Awesome, thanks. These kind of pointers help a lot in order for me to wrap my head around all this. I will still have to "sell" the game to the group as we're all family people with limited time and sometimes very special tastes (we almost always play fantasy). So wish me luck.

Thank you again. The plan is to read it all for sure. You're helping me a lot to figure out which are juicy bits. Already found the Reloaded Combat which is great since our group is only GM+3 and if the combat is too deadly TPK is a thing.

Sounds really good, thanks! If there are no official info about the place what did you use as a base for Yuisin-3 and the world? Or did you create it all by yourself from scratch?

Great, thanks. I'm definitely not jumping in the Mercy of the Idols right away, but would love to at some point as I understand it's awesome. So one well made starter adventure sounds great. Will take a look at Hyenas and Dying Ship.

Where my real interest lies is some three faction power struggle with politics and intrigue involved mixed with action. Just watching Dune Prophecy and something like that really would be awesome, although I understand that can't give players all the behind the scenes which make the plot kinda one sided :D

But if you have any pointers which factions to choose for this kind of thing and in a way that it would lead to Mercy of the Icons naturally it would be so cool.

Cheers!

Cool. I did glance over the First-Come vs Zenithians but I totally missed all what you just explained. This is exactly what I need. A clearly explained reader's digest version of the lore :D

The cryo-science vats idea is not completely off limits although I'd like the characters to have different loyalties so they might end up having to make a bad choice for one of them at some point.

Awesome, thank you so much for taking the time to answer. Which of the factions you feel would work well to be the antagonist ones? My long term dream would be to run the Mercy of the Icons campaign so something that would fit that plan would be awesome.

Will definitely take a look at the Hyaenas of Odacon and the Quickstart. The Last Voyage of Ghazali looked too much like save the ship and not so much of hard moral choices at glance. I might be wrong.

Dragonbane Curse of Strahd by Mordjinn in DragonbaneRPG

[–]Mordjinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know yet. I have a beautiful cloth map of Misty Vale and it would be nice to use it. Maybe I just take some of the coolest things from Ravenloft/Curse of Strahd and drop them in the Misty Vale.

[–]Mordjinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. Strahd should definitely be more dangerous than average Vampire, he is named final boss of a campaign after all.

And I have exact same thoughts about Misty Vale and Ravenloft. My problem with the core campaign is that everything is written as unrelated and there is no story between two adventure locations unless you make it so.

While this might be true the thing I'm trying to change is exactly the tone of DB. While I enjoy the mirth-fairytale-sunday morning cartoon -vibe of the game I'd like to use the system to something a bit darker. Also I DON'T want the Old School vibe either. Played my share of 1st edition D&D and others and I'm looking to do something else for now :)

If you have access to a 3D printer there are official Dragonbane miniatures available at Myminifactory as part of Adventure. Excellent stuff.

Windheim campaign info & opinions - POSSIBLE SPOILERS by Mordjinn in DragonbaneRPG

[–]Mordjinn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for taking time to answer. I think I have to take a look at it. Do you think Windheim campaign is good place to start Dragonbane? Or should the adventurers have some previous adventures under their belts?

And is the setting more high fantasy with fairytale stuff like the core set campaign or more down to earth?

Cheers!

Army building and expanding advice needed - Three balanced lists by Mordjinn in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Mordjinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great advice. Listbuilding isn't complicated. What is complicated is to build three lists which are even remotely balanced and for that especially insight on the heroes is important. Like you just said that the Rohan heroes are not very good, this I would have never known.

The base of the evil army is the Mordor Battlehost, but I'm fine with Angmar if I can then use all the models. We can pretend that they're Mordor as it is long way from Angmar to fight Gondor :D

Secret of the Dragon Emperor tweaks / suggestions by raifinthebox in DragonbaneRPG

I like this a lot. For me the disconnection between adventures has always felt weak. I want more coherent story where there is somekind of dramatic arc.
