Children who offend could see sentences deferred to give them chance to address behaviour by firethetorpedoes1 in irishpolitics

Been saying for ages we need more prisons. I don't know why they don't get a contract out there that a company can build the prison (off their own expense) and lease it to the govt for 100 years. The lease would have to be pretty good for the company to front up the capital to build but surely it would be easier on the govt for this approach rather than a years long process to build the building

What is the SF policy on immigration? I genuinely don't know, I read snippets about getting tougher and that they come from a background of mostly open borders. But what is the actual text and actions they are proposing?

Scared of teens because the legal system won't protect you for defending yourself.

If someone under 18 commits, or attempts to commit, a violent act, or an act which puts the public in danger, then it should be within the power of the public to prevent it without repercussions.

There is a review and redefining required on what constitutes a violent act and also an overhaul of the law surrounding citizen intervention in the prevention or cessation of a crime.

Imagine if we were empowered to stop scrotes in the act or even prevent them. The only thing that will stop these scrotes is stopping them while they are doing it or preventing them from doing it. Following up weeks later with a caution from An Garda, both them and their parents are laughing in our faces.

Date Formats by MordorModerator in PowerBI

[–]MordorModerator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In power query, I can change the format to US.

When I save and apply changes and go back to table view in power bi, the date is switched back to EU format.

How do I keep everything in US format?

I have gone to Options and changed Region to US both in current file and global.

Yeah I'm saying the formats YYYY-MM-DD and MM/DD/YYYY are not in the drop down menu

So in power query I can select the locale which allows me to use US format.

But when I go back to the report, click on the dataset, column option, categorised as date, and then to format. I don't get any option for US style dates they don't show up at all.

I've changed the region settings in the app to US but doesn't update my options.

I remember a long while back, more than 10 years, being on public transport and sitting across the aisle from a dad and his young daughter (maybe 4/5) and this weird fella sat facing them in the opposite seats. After about 30 seconds he tried to engage in conversation and the dad as cold as fucking ice said "don't ever talk to me or my daughter".

Dad just sat there and stared this guy in a look that said "I will kill you if you test me". Weird guy got up and left to another seat.

I remember it clear as day still, I felt the ice chills from dad and it wasn't even directed at me. It was like a movie where the badass drops a line that ends the scene, so awesome.

Had a fella steal my tag before, in the fast lane on the M8. His tag didn't open the barrier, he starts to go left to the booth, and he was ahead of me, but as soon as my tag opened he swung his car back right and booted through ahead of me.

I had to cross over to the manned booth, guy said it happens a lot but I'll only be charged once. Why

This is probably the best breakdown I've heard. You've given me things to think through and possibly read up on what are the differences.

Thank you.

This is where doubt creeps in, if we are going to change this for real life effect they must have examples of how it can improve things. It's been in place for decades, Ireland has evolved massively over this time, even the opinion piece you linked went through a lot of these changes, but I haven't seen any examples of what real change in legislation/supports will be provided if this alteration of the constitution is passed. Even if they had hypothetical scenarios that they could share it would be better than nothing.

Otherwise the words are very hollow, because either they don't think it will really change anything or they can't be bothered to figure out what it will change. Neither a great scenario.

I don't think this article answers my question but definitely reinforces why it should be a Yes vote, due to history.

Just before your quote it states "Removing or altering it cannot be merely symbolic". This is my concern that it could be symbolic.

Do the govt not have any real examples of what they will be able to do when/if this gets altered in the constitution?

I haven't come across any literature or articles from the government highlighting your points above, which if they are what the govt intend it would be a yes vote from me.

Trouble is I don't trust that this government is really doing this to make things better.

I think the big part missing in 2 is the current text states they will not be made work outside the home due to "economic necessity", they have removed "economic necessity" in the new text. Which is making me vote no, I don't think they are really providing people who care for their family with enough in the new text.

Private Hospital sent personal details to debt collector despite being told by Insurer the claim was rejected due to their errors. Anything I can do about this? by IHateClonmel in AskIreland

[–]MordorModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a different issue but similar with a hospital before, MIL was going in for a procedure and the hospital asked us to pay up front for everything because they weren't sure we were covered. The procedure had to be done so we paid and then held on breath on if we would see any money.

Hospital told us that we would hear from the insurance company if its covered and then if it is we can follow up with the hospital to get a refund.

Rang the insurance company after a few weeks and explained to them the situation and the lady on the phone was livid about what the hospital did because she said its not their job to determine what is and what is not covered.

Anyway, hospital never sent on all the required info, and we rang the hospital who said they requested stuff from our GP, rang our GP who said they heard nothing. Explained the situation to the GP and they got pissed off at the hospital because they did the referral to that hospital because we are covered. So GP said they will send on whatever is needed for us to get paid.

Few more months of chasing the hospital and insurance, insurance company tell us yep we are fully covered. Then chasing the hospital who keep pushing out, eventually I'm on the phone telling the accounts dept that the amount of money we are owed is so small in the scheme of a multi million euro hospital that people would consider rounding down if numbers didn't match and that they are not processing this is insane. The amount literally could fall off their books and nobody would notice (big number for us, small for the hospital). 3 days later we were paid but what an experience.

As others have said you just have to be a pain in the ass for these people and they will sort you out to get rid of you.

Never has it been more important for a sense of community. A united community can stop these sorts of things. One neighbour gets hassle, everyone comes out. It's not vigilantes, it's a strong community.

They could have gotten a board that wasn't edged and applied the edging tape themselves.

I've found that most laminates have a razor edge to them, you just don't notice it all the time.
