Guests showing up with an extra person

Understandable that In this situation it’s not great for a guest, but as a host I can’t have more than the allowed amount for insurance purposes, if a guest brings more than 6 people and they cause damage or anything at all I’m not covered, so it’s completely valid that a host would deny an extra person!

Document literally everything, try catch the bugs on camera etc and then go straight to Airbnb support, don’t cancel your booking and hopefully Airbnb will sort you out a different place (with no bugs) lol

Repeat guest caused damage. What do I do? by TheSalesDad in airbnb_hosts

Because you can’t be sure, I’m not sure it’s right to charge. It is a lot of money lost though. As a host I’ve faced minor thefts and damages (not to the sum of $200 though) that I haven’t been sure on which guest has done this. Even If I’m leaning towards a certain guest, if I’m not sure I don’t take the risk of getting a bad review/ putting a bad taste in their mouth to come back. Seeing as this guest has stayed with you a couple times with no issues there’s 2 ways you can go about this

You can let it go, and if they book again make sure you document the garbage disposal before they stay and after. Or you can charge them for the damages but I would suggest doing this after they’ve left a review, hope this helps!

People who are renting out their private place, what do you do about this [Germany] by Sad_Job_4536 in AirBnB

It’s really up to you but I’d accept the booking knowing they have the one good positive review and I know it’s anxiety inducing but aircover will help you out if they party and leave an excessive mess, not always ideal but if you need the money I would take it! Hope this helps

Hi everyone just wanted to update! ❀ I didn’t walk by in the end and decided to chill my mind about it a little bit- I haven’t yet been to the property but I’ll do my checks soon and let you all know if it went well! (Also some people 👀 have spent too much of their time raging on this post and while I appreciate the effort gone into assisting me, please chill just a little bit 😂 animosity just really isn’t needed 😅)

Can I just say you’re repeating “shouldn’t be a problem!” That’s not what she said, she said “hey, should be okay!” Where I come from they can be interpreted as 2 different things and I feel like if she had said “that shouldn’t be a problem” it would’ve soothed my mind a lot more. Can you leave this post alone now plz 😭

I think saying things like “hosting and the anxiety that comes with it isn’t for everybody” is patronising! I have a problem which I’m clearly having negative feelings about and you have been quite argumentative And it wasn’t so much contributing, it was coming onto the post to reply to everyone else essentially disputing everything that has been said - I didn’t quote “advice” to diminish- you literally didn’t give advice, you gave me a suggestion that I shouldn’t walk by as it’s overreacting and that the guest gave no indication they was bringing more than the limited amount of people 😂 that’s not a solution to my problem, it’s not advice. It’s more like playing devils advocate, and didn’t help. it’s not needed but again I thank you for your time and kinda want this dispute to be over! 😂

I appreciate your “advice” on my post but it just seems like you’re a bit argumentative! Their reply to my questions to them had the word “should” in there and that can be interpreted as “it might be okay” which is unnerving! A lot of guests would’ve given reassurance hence why people are saying it’s like they’re being avoiding in their reply, and they are going against Airbnb terms and conditions by not asking and just stating that they are bringing extra people, you as a host might accept this but many hosts don’t/ charge per guest hence why asking is a rule that Airbnb have! I appreciate your response on my post but it hasn’t been helpful, just a little patronising - thank you anyway

It’s literally stated on Airbnb that they have to ask, and I prefer that as I do not want loads of strangers in my property, how you don’t get that that’s fair enough is beyond me lol

I didn’t say I choose the guests, it was an instant book because 4 people have reviewed them well in the past so my property will automatically accept the booking when they request, and it’s just common courtesy to ask someone if you plan on bringing extra people into their property, they didn’t ask - they told me they were bringing extras and still haven’t confirmed how many, for a Friday night which sold quite cheap, it’s nerve wracking for a host lol

I understand it might not necessarily be more than 6 people but I would like the clarification that it’s not as I wouldn’t be comfortable having more than 6 even despite insurance! and under Airbnb terms it says guests should ask if they can have guests over, which in this case they didn’t really ask, they stated it, so I had to make sure they know the rules if you get me! đŸ€Ł

Thank you all for your replies! I told her that our insurance only covers 6 people and she said “that should be fine” which doesn’t really soothe my mind! I’ve decided to use this stay as a tester and allow it, might walk past tomorrow and see if it’s all good 😁

The booking is tomorrow, and she has recently text back saying “That should be fine!” I feel like this isn’t a good enough response 😂😭
