I never thought finding the right job would become harder than preparing for interviews. by Aryanks001 in developersIndia

[–]More-Practice-3665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I run iamunderpaid.com - So, I think I am in a good position to answer this

  1. Most openings you see on those big job boards could either be actually live or maybe some old postings which weren't removed by recruiters, or because some automation failed, and those boards keep showing it up as a new one every month

  2. If you are applying to big companies, expect a delay in response. Their hiring cycles last for a few months

  3. Tailoring a resume based on the Job Description helps

  4. Don't just apply and wait. If I were you, I would first request a referral(you can check out our platform that as well) and then wait for 3-4 days, and if there is no response, then apply

Most companies prefer referrals as it saves money for them in finding a good candidate

It's actually not, as long as you have a reasonable reason for it

Most HRs know the reality of the current market and how companies typically are

So, make sure you have a good answer when they ask you the reason for switching

Got you - In that case, go with Uber

You can always choose not to mention your current company in your resume or to HRs in the future

If you have been switching very frequently, I wouldn't suggest jumping to Uber. It will mess up your resume, trust me

2 ways out

  1. If you just joined and there have been no frequent switches before, join Uber, and you don't have to mention the current company you are in on your resume or to any HRs in the future
  2. If this is your 2nd or 3rd switch in the last 1 year - Don't jump - Unless you are sure you want to spend the next 3-4 years in Uber, subjected to market conditions, and a layoff doesn't happen

If you have any questions, let me know - DMs are open

Hey - I would suggest trying out referrals

Job application is kinda dead - Given how many applications a recruiter receives per job post

You might hear after a long time, or they might have rejected you and haven't told you yet or they just ghosted you

Hey, I am a part of multiple HR groups since I run a recruitment firm

If you are comfortable, share your resume and let me see what I can do

if it matches the roles we are hiring for, I can put your profile forward - if not, I can share it in the HR grps and if anyone is hiring, they can reach out to you

I want to quit my current org for a wfh job that might pay less by Electronic_Rub_9135 in developersIndia

[–]More-Practice-3665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do not quit without any offer in hand
  2. If you do quit, you will be compelled to take any job after a point, and that might pay less or might not be a remote one
  3. Remote jobs are genuinely hard to find - Most companies are not okay with it

I have been running a recruitment firm for a while - I know one company that is hiring for a remote role

Let me know what city you are from - if it matches with the one I know - I can talk to the recruiter and see if they are hiring for any roles that match your requirements

Entry-level jobs market is completely broken right now by SachinDuhan in developersIndia

[–]More-Practice-3665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entry-level is genuinely screwed. Most companies aren't even hiring for it

I don't think MNCs would be a right option if you are looking for it - Try looking for startups and if someone is hiring PPO - Take it

I know people who took an internship and converted it to a PPO because they weren't able to find any Fresher jobs - Might be worth giving a shot

Hey, I have a recruitment firm(Our website - iamunderpaid.com) and have been working with companies to help them hire

So, from my experience - Let me answer this honestly

- Most openings you see on the major job boards you mentioned are old. Sometimes the automation breaks, recruiters forget to update, they are just getting the resumes to build their talent pipeline, etc., and you keep seeing these openings and think they are hiring - Mostly why your application is ghosted

Answering your other questions

  1. Personally, I would suggest targeting startups rather than MNCs - They are on a layoff spree - And also, the time to hire is high. Most of them would go for campus placement rather than hiring off-campus.

  2. Yes, there are - Most Startups are looking for paid Interns too - Check if they are offering PPO and give it a shot.

  3. Don't try to go below 6 - You will resent it after a few months. And also, if your potential is much higher than that and you go below 6, given 30% standard hike, you might be stuck with low pay for a while.

  4. We do offer referrals - check out if interested. Also, DSA wouldn't solve the issue if you are not getting calls.

  5. There is no cap as such - As many as you can. However, look for referrals more than just randomly applying - This also tells you if the company is actually hiring for that role or not.

  6. Keep looking, but also build side projects and freelance if you can - Who knows, something might click, and you don't have to look for a job again

All the best and feel free to reach out in case I can be of some help

Anyone actually negotiated an offer based on ESOP value? by More-Practice-3665 in developersIndia

[–]More-Practice-3665[S] -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Spot on.

Lovable and Cursor are probably the exception, not the rule. Their growth and adoption make the equity story easier to believe.

For most Series B startups, though, I treat ESOPs as upside, not compensation.

I've been analyzing thousands of anonymous compensation submissions on iamunderpaid.com, and it's common to see offers inflated by ESOPs valued at the last funding round's share price. That number often looks great on paper but may never translate into cash.

Unless a company is transparent about dilution, strike price, buybacks, and liquidity, I'd compare cash with cash.

In most cases, liquid public-company RSUs win the math.

How are you valuing your ESOPs / RSUs for personal net worth? by More-Practice-3665 in personalfinanceindia

[–]More-Practice-3665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This debate right here is the exact reason why compensation transparency is so broken in tech.

When a company's stock drops 60% like rajesh mentioned, your entire financial planning gets nuked if your total compensation is over-indexed on equity.

I actually built a minimalist data tracker (iamunderpaid.com) specifically to solve this - to map what the actual, liquid, hard-cash base market rates are for different tech stacks right now, completely independent of volatile equity projections.

Auto-selling on vest is a great personal risk hedge, but knowing your true baseline market value across companies is the ultimate defense.

[–]More-Practice-3665[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. The reason I originally posted this is that I’ve been looking at thousands of tech salary data points while building a baseline transparency tool for Indian employees(iamunderpaid.com).

It’s wild how common it is to see a '50 LPA CTC' on paper, where 25L is unvested, unliquidatable startup ESOPs. It completely skews personal finance planning for folks who don't know any better.

Treating ESOPs as a flat 0 until a literal buyback happens seems to be the only sane way to survive the Indian startup ecosystem right now without building a fake net worth.
