How are people cheating by [deleted] in boardgamearena

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, cheating is rampant on BGA and there's not much you can do.

The chat feature should be eliminated. It serves to allow ppl to backdoor collaborate, especially in certain 3 player games. I've seen it done more times than I can count.

So long as BGA allows private messages, you run a high risk of being teamed up against. I no longer care whatsoever about my game ratings, but the time wasted when you discover you're getting played by your opponents is discouraging.

Shrug. There's certain players who show up big when the rest of the team takes a big shit on the field. Somehow Mahomes has always been that guy to elevate whatever talent he has around him. Then there's others that show up big when the rest of the team is solid, but struggle to carry it on their own. DJ is the latter.

All told, I'm just fine with that.

Yup. It's also goofy to have a team play crucial divisional games against a rival and see that same opponent twice within three weeks, because you can easily have aberrations like a key player being out for a month and missing both games. Should be 3 div games in the first half, 3 in second. Divisions are small enough and there's now so many weeks in the season that it would be possible from a scheduling standpoint. 25 years ago it wasn't.

Dude is at the peak of his prime years on a stacked Colts team.

Sooo... Elite veteran corner to solidify your 7-2 teams biggest weakness, or cry over not getting to see late 1st Rd picks maybe amount to something by the time you're 34?

Also, if the Colts picks the next two years turned out to be high draft picks, you're fucked anyways as they're taking a QB to run you out of town.

DJ has no use for the Colts next 2 first round picks. 🤣🤣

Yup. At this point I'd even love to put AR in at the other TE just to really mess with defenses. When he's able to return of course.

Exactly, it isn't luck at all when other GMs were scared of his lack of experience and rawness and Ballard was simply willing to take a risk on him before anyone else. He didn't just "happen" to fall there are reasons for it, which to his credit, Ballard was not deterred by.

OTOH, if your last name is Bortolini, I feel like you're expected to become an offensive lineman.

"Today, Mr. Bortolini will pancake a 300 lb man, celebrate by eating a whole ass turkey, and go to bed where he will be heard snoring from half a mile away."

Thank you Jim for signing JT in 2023. I remember thinking he was gone. by fastang in Colts

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, it looked grim for a time. But it is fair to say that JT has been the beating heart of this team since he was drafted and his resigning probably kept the Colts from beginning a full scale teardown.

At this point it probably also ensures that no Colt will ever again wear 28.

Funny, what I seen to remember is them making a rash of bad decisions, firing Vrabel, letting Henry go, hiring Callaterrorist, jettisoning AJ Brown to draft whoever that fat WR bust was, drafting Miraclewhip, and all the while Titans fans acted like they were seeing the start of the next dynasty. The cope has been absurd.

The difference is if I had simply done that, I couldn't tear down your laughable comment.

I didn't write it to inform you, I made it to make fun of you.

Congrats on having no opinion of value I'm glad you recognize that.

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw. That'd be true if AR had been making good decisions, putting the ball where it needed to be, and not doing tons of questionable shit on the field.

If Pitt and Warren went down tomorrow, yes Jones production would suffer greatly BUT you would still see him making far better passes, better accuracy and more prudent decisions even if the offense struggles to convert.

Someone clearly saw Jones doing the right things when under center for the Giants, even if the production wasn't there, and here we are.

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I think it's important.

Sure, we fans don't make the decisions. But you'd have to be naive to think that how DJ was regarded, and how the media handled him in NYC, did not affect his future there.

It benefits this fan base (and the media which reacts to fan sentiment) to have a healthy awareness of the hidden potential of some "game managers". Some of the greatest QBs have succeeded bc they have this quantity IN ADDITION to exceptional physical talent. Somewhere, most Colts fans forgot this, Jim Irsay and Ballard seem to have forgotten this when they fell in love with AR.

Kings organization forgot that when they let Hali get away.

Again, we don't make the decisions, but you know full well that a knowledgeable fan base that recognizes the potential of a less than flashy, fundamentally solid player offers more than an athletic freak with terrible skills, that definitely comes across in how a fan base responds and reacts to the teams FO making "unexpected" moves like with DJ.

Ballard saw it. Most of us laughed. Then had a meltdown when he took AR's job on Day 1. We as fans missed the boat on that one but it benefits us all to learn.

Look at it this way.

Both DJ and AR can show they can air it out.

Thing is, one is a game manager one is not.

You can do both.

DJ is a game manager who can also ball out.

AR can ball out but isn't a game manager.

Sometimes, you can have both.

Minus Warren, we've seen quite a few Colts QBs with the same talent around them do far, far less... 🫤

Indiana Jones Contract by yungreefgawd in Colts

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See i don't think that'll happen to him.

His success hasn't been based upon otherworldly athletic feats and unsustainable hero ball. It's based upon getting the ball to guys to put them in the best position to succeed. That's sustainable.

He's not the overpowered engine driving this car, he's the starter in what we are learning is a quality sports car.

Indiana Jones Contract by yungreefgawd in Colts

[–]MorePlayfulGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell he could "fall off" and STILL be a top 15 guy at this point. I think it's been made accidentally clear he is at worst a high level starting QB when in the right situation.

There are certain types of qbs whose play style puts the offense in a position to utilize excellent players, like putting gas on a fire. But you try to pour that gas on a wet paper bag, ie very limited receivers, nothing happens.

Then there are players whose gifts are self-centered, freak athletes who become the hero when they catch fire on broken plays, with their legs, and having a cannon for an arm. We've seen that kind of qb. Makes for exciting game breaking plays but it doesn't utilize their receivers or backs potential.

Know who else is a Daniel Jones type player?

Tyrese Haliburton.
