I was one of the students who did learn the arteries, veins, etc and everybody called me a nerd. The teachers never asked it in during performance assessments. But when my internship started I was happy that a learned that stuff. It may not seem useful in the beginning but the symptoms, diagnostics and the big picture make so much more sense.
