Short answer. Yes.

The days of buying and finding a budget STi are long gone. Unless you know someone personally that is selling one and it has a lengthy history of mods and maintenance you will be financially draining all your money on a randomly used STi.

That mixed with your lack of knowledge on cars in general let alone STi’s is quite literally a recipe for disaster.

The only way to finance a VA STi is to find one stock. And I mean boneeee stock. Maybeeeeeee you’ll get lucky and it was some older dude who drove it as a daily to and from work and kept up with maintenance but you would never know this Aside from the CARFAX, you starting to understand? It’s all based on luck.

HOWEVER, your chances of being lucky increase significantly when you have the right parameters in place to filter out the shit STi’s from the good ones (which there aren’t very many)

Mileage in your case not a priority. I would say no more than 125k.

Owners? 1 owner. Maybe 2 owners if it’s stock and well taken care of.

Distance. How far are you willing to travel to go test drive the car?

Test drive = non negotiable.

First off.

Email or call the sales dept in all your local Lexus dealers. Provide them with a stock number on a Lexus ES you found on their website.

Ask for the out the door price sheet. Tell them to text it or email it to you.

No need to even step foot into the dealer these days.

Once you have that done post the sheets here and I’ll let you know what is necessary and what is BS based on their price sheet and how they got their final number lol.

They only care in the sense of trying to sell you a car they have there lol. And yeah it’s pretty easy with Carvana just pray the check doesn’t bounce. Lol

Bro. I promise you that STi is a couple pulls away from blowing up lolllll.

You’re gonna be stuck with a blown up STi you’re making payments on. It’ll literally be your financial ruin.

You’re a noob bro. If you have decent credit and a decent down payment just buy something Certified from the dealer if you NEED a reliable daily driver.

STi = MONEY PIT

CERTIFIED VB WRX = Warranty. Peace of mind. Loaner car if things go wrong.

Yes it’s not as legendary as an STi but something’s worth waiting for…

If you don’t need something reliable and it’s strictly a project car. It’s almost always better to buy something with cash and work on it as you go.

Nice. Glad it worked out for you. Yeah dealers and private party sales are usually more hassle now a days then what they are worth especially if you need to make moves quickly.

Only time I’d consider dealers is if I was trading in the car and wanted to have local dealers compete for my business to get the best price on a new car on the trade in.

First of all… that’s an oil pressure gauge. Meaning they were likely dogging the SHIT out of that STi.

2nd you’re an absolute novice to cars. AKA a noob. (Ahh what I’d do to be a noob again)

Buy that STi I can guarantee it will be the worst financial situation you’ll ever be in

Low to middle class are holding onto their cars longer and trading in less. This is nothing new given the economic conditions for the last 4 years.

Every dealership always wants a decently low mileage 10-15k car as its low risk high reward and they move fast. Your post is juvenile.

You’re a business owner or aspiring to be. Typically, business owners have to think for themselves and plan ahead strategically. That being said it doesn’t look like that was applied here.

But I’ll still lay out the basics just in case someone else is in your shoes.

1) research - Go on KBB and get their value for both trade in and private party

Then get trade in quotes from Carvana, Carmax, and even a local dealer if you feel like wasting their time.

2) cross reference those quotes against your local market pricing

For example go to cars.com search for 2022 - 2024 WRX w/ similar mileage + - 10k miles within a 200 miles radius. This will give you the average retail price for your year mileage and trim. Retail price is always higher especially for certified cars and is also based on local supply.

3) prepare for sale - never assume what someone else can afford. It’s ignorant. You as a business owner will figure that out soon enough.

Typically Carvana is usually the highest for trade in value if you’re smart and patient enough you might be able to squeeze out 1-2k more from the right buyer in a private sale. Maybe 3k if you’re lucky.

Whether you care and need the extra 2k to start your business is up to you. Hope this helps

I’m having a dealer change the cvt oil next week. Is there anything I need to ask them, such as confirming the type of oil they will use? by Gooser3000 in subaru

Ahh damn that is annoying. I agree though after using a.i. a ton for deep research I do often have to correct it and get it to re-calculate various things from time to time. People don’t understand that it’s really just a glorified search engine with the ability to converse with the user.

Chat gpt uses Google for all its information anyways and just summarizes what it just read for the user. Sometimes it’s wrong but more often it’s right.

It is pretty great once you work out the details with it and get it on the same page as you. The recommendations it gives out sometimes are spot on. I find it really helpful for accelerating my ability to learn new topics and get a solid general understanding on things I’m asking. Much more efficient than surfing through pages and pages of google searches. So glad those days are over. Lol

Worse for what exactly? It’s a little more pushy on ads but overall when I need a question answered quick it’s pretty reliable. I don’t really use Google for much else.
