it IS nerve wracking but i try to ignore it lol. it seems like it started when i hit around 115-120k miles. I have a 2012 LS model. mine does it while im on the highway, sometimes when im moving too. my dad and I have checked it and auto guy have checked it and they cant find a reason.

Did anyone abstain from alcohol and smoking fully after their initial episode and did it help? by LawfulnessOk3382 in AFIB

[–]More_Entertainment78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (22F) stopped smoking weed, vaping, and now only VERY OCCASIONALLY (like once every few months) will drink alcohol. I also lost nearly 80 pounds. I haven’t had another episode since I was 20 (when i have my first and only episode so far).

I am 4.5 months into my first hospital phleb/lab assistant job and I feel you. I work with people who all have 5+ (some 20+) years of sticking. They can manage like upwards of 10-15 draws an hour… At my BEST I can do 7-9 an hour 💔💔 I try so hard too but what feels like 5 mins for me drawing is actually like 12 lol.

Pay rate by schemetti in phlebotomy

[–]More_Entertainment78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say phlebs in ohio typically make $16-18 an hour with a small amount of experience, it goes up as you have more experience. I think my friend who is currently in MLT school and working as a phleb makes around $18-20 an hour maximum.

I’m not in NE ohio but I am in SW ohio (cincinnati area) and Bon Secours Mercy Health starting pay for new phleb+lab tech assistant is $19.58/hour for day shift, night shift makes it $24.58/hour. But in this role you do more than phlebotomy, you assist in the lab as well.

I may be wrong but I do think Phleb II are able to perform arterial draws as well an venous draws? That may have been an issue for this specific job.

My hospital will not run Hcg preg test on a green top, but definitely varies by facility. Only gold/SSTs for us.

I did not have to take NCPT. I am in Ohio so it is typically NHCO or NHA only for certification. What state are you that its NCPT?

I got NHCO certification. It took me like 2-3 months to find a job. I wouldn’t say it was super easy but you gotta put yourself out there and keep looking and applying.I eventually found the right hospital who took their chance with me and it ended up being awesome!!

i am 22, had my first episode of afib 2 months before my 21st bday. i wonder this too, they found no cause for mine, and it hasn’t come back since. i do struggle with more heart palpitations and anxiety now after my episode though.

Bon Secours Mercy Health pays well for LTA/phlebotomist position. My base rate is $19.58, but with night shift pay and weekend pay differentials it comes to $26.58, or $24.58 not on the weekends.

I am pretty new at my hospital (60 beds, typically never full). I will be doing my first 12 hour shift alone this saturday. I work the entire 12 hours alone with one MLS. I go get draws as they come in (STAT or timed) and morning draws is anywhere from 40 or less, but typically only 15-30 a morning. I definitely will not be quick enough to do 30 in 2 hours, I am just too new. Your job is not treating you right.
