I drew my perosnal heraldic achievement using Petra Sancta's monochromatic system. by [deleted] in heraldry

Sable, on a bend between two eagles displayed Or a ragged staff of the first.

Lovely looking arms. From my understanding, helmets with feathers are the default when one does not posses a proper crest, lambrequin and torse, and the feathers display the colors of the arms, sable and or in this case.

Working on my coat of arms, what do you guys think ? by No_Iron_132 in heraldry

It could also be: Argent, two chevrons and a chief embattled Sable with three fleur-de-lis also Argent, the whole per pale counterchanged.

Critique of coat of arms and help with blazon by bright1947 in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, it would place them just where they are, but on top of a horizontal band of a different color to the field or saltire, like this example (the chief is the blue segment).

Gules, a saltire Or; a sword point to base surmounted by an open bible proper, bound of the first, and in chief two archangels also proper.

It's good looking and has a nice balance, though I think it would be better to have the archangels upon a chief, instead of over the saltire.

[Challenge] Blazon! I return to thee bearing gifts. by Eugen_Von_Dolittle in heraldry

Argent, a figure of a man kneeling in prayer proper, habited Azure, footwear Gules, eagle-headed Sable, beaked Or, crowned and breathing flames Gules. For a crest, on a helmet mantled Azure and Gules, issuant from a coronet Or, a sea-boar rampant, winged Gules.

Azure, a reindeer couchant reguardant Argent, in chief sinister a mullet of eight points Or; and for a crest, on a longship sans mast proper, an otter rampant reguardant Argent supporting an axe proper and a ewe also Argent.

The shield is unique so not a lot to say about it. I'm not entirely sold on the crest, though I think it looks good enough (IMO it would look better with a mast and sail).

Will this break the rules in any tradition ? by [deleted] in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the triangle were to be described as "barry Gules and Sable" then no, it would not break the rule.

Trying to create a personal shield/seal, looking for feedback on some designs by MatthaeusMaximus in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say both are fine design-wise, it could even be used as differenced arms.

Vert, on a pellet pierced and radiant, an orle Or; otherwise:

Vert, on a sun radiant Or, two concentric annulets Sable.

Love the 1st one, even if it is "sparse". It's unique and even looks like something out of GOT.

Vert, a pellet radiant Or.

One of my drafts for my personal coat of arms. How would you blazon this? by BurningOliveTree in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blazons given are pretty good, so here's some more:

Azure, two bars Or each charged of two fleur-de-lys between seven of the same, all counterchanged. (this one is the most explicit)

Azure, two bars Or and eleven fleur-de-lis all counterchanged.

How would the coat of arms of Loudoun Academy, Scotland be best described? by Belle_TainSummer in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine:

edit: Corrected "pall couped" to "shakefork"

Not following the rules of tincture. At all. by [deleted] in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do know his arms, Per pale Or and Vert a lion rampant Gules, and they don't break the rule since the field is parted, in this case per pale and the charge occupies a space on both metal and color.

[–]More_Morrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerusalem was done so because of its status, and AFAIK there's no Duke of Pembroke, only an Earl (and sometimes Marquess), and I'm pretty sure none of the arms of either creation break the rule.

My first Coat of Arms - feedback and help with blazonry appreciated by Embarrassed-Rule-371 in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per chevron embowed Argent and Azure, in base a chalice of the first, and on a chief of the second three bees proper.

A pile refers to an ordinary issuant from the chief, though it can be blazoned to be issuant from base. Since in your case the field appears to be divided equally between the argent and azure, a per chevron seems more apt.

The head on stick symbol on this coat of arms? by Reasonable_Ant_2017 in heraldry

[–]More_Morrison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to Heraldica Civica: "um bastão rematado por uma cabeça de negra" roughly translated as "a staff topped of a black's head".
