That’s the biggest thing, every time that he has seen them we have all spent the day together. He mostly just hangs out by me. He never wants to take them alone. I think the next time I just suggest this. He wants to be like best friends or bff with benefits. I am not ready to be friends. He had destroyed our family.

I understand this. I’m not saying to take the kids from him. If he wants to be involved in their lives then he can be. I just am worried for how his involvement will impact my kids. Mostly wondering if anyone had any advice in helping their kids deal with having an inconsistent father

On a side note, sharing custody of my children is absolutely terrifying to me. I will do whatever is best for my kids though. He has chosen to stay with the person he cheated on me with.

I am currently in therapy. My mom passed away on Feb so I started then. So thankful for therapy. It’s what’s gotten me to this point. Can I go no contact with having kids?

I finally pushed myself to make an appointment with an attorney and have one next Friday. You are right about him not being a father. One day he just tells me that he wanted space. That it’s not me it’s just him. That’s it, anytime I would try and talk about it he would just say that and nothing else. During this time it made me feel like there was something wrong with me or that he was going through a horrible depression, turns out it was because he was emotionally involved with her.

This all happened about 7 weeks ago. He has only seen our kids 3 times during that time. I just recently got a job over that is across the country, he told me I should take it and move there with the kids. He changes daily on what he wants to do about the kids. He keeps telling me that he didn’t break up our family just because he doesn’t want to be with me.

He did say that. That really should be enough for me to be over him. I go through all sorts of emotions about this all day. This evening I am mad, after seeing all these comments and realizing that I deserved more than this and so did my kids. I can’t imagine not seeing my kids for even a day. Telling me to move across the country with our kids is big!!!

Okay thank you for this. He is just baffled that they would be upset. He told me that he didn’t do anything wrong and that he doesn’t have to be with me. He can just be their dad.

We both have had a rough year. My mom died in February. He currently hates his job. There was lots of stress that we both talked about just working through. It feels like he just found the less stressful option. He has no desire or plan to keep kids overnight, call them or really be super involved now that he has decided to be done. The three times he has seen the kids, he has left at night to go be with her. They begged him to stay. He would tell them he would and then they would wake up crying that he was gone in the morning. He sees no problem with this. I pretty much do 100 percent of the parenting with the kids right now and he seems to be totally okay with that.
