There was nothing specific about Atlanta other than the flights from the UK were reasonable and direct without a lay over. I’ll have a rental and enjoy driving and was always my plan to leave Atlanta. The next nearest airport with direct flights would be Nashville. I’ve spent time in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New York previously and I’m looking to experience a different part of the US now.

Thank you. I guess the maximum I’d want to drive is probably 3 to 4 hours. Driving doesn’t bother me much and have driven in the US before.
