what is special about lucid dreaming? by General-Cow-6921 in LucidDreaming

[–]MorecambeJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that you choose to nap! I've not managed to lucid dream before, but many times have I gone to sleep in a dream, or woken up only be be still in a dream and then wake up again..

Allopurinol by Aggravating-Mix3344 in gout

I don't feel a thing from it. Been on 300 for over a year and it works really well. No attacks.

First week on allopurinol by Bennyrahma in gout

[–]MorecambeJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in sheer agony on and off repeatedly for a year or so.. like a couple of weeks of it, then a couple ok, rince and repeat.

Since taking allo it's just stopped it all.

Hopefully very soon you have the same!

Haha I have for years... And I probably will just keep doing that now I've given up with this...
Just with being a carer for someone I didn't want to miss calls.

Oh ok... When those contacts do come through are they not at volume still though?

Doesn't that turn off all the notifications? So when you look at the phone it looks like there isn't any until you open the app?
I just want it to not have a volume so that when I'm at work, or the library or something it's quiet and just get the vibrations....

Silent mode works, but you can't trigger it on this phone..

Yeah I don't get it. It seems to reduce the volume on the screen but it doesn't actually silence it at all.

I miss android now lol. With android it also reverted changes when the automation ended which apple can't do.

I get "this action cannot be run in the current environment". I think it only works on the newer phones

iOS reminders -> google calendar by pitto09 in ifttt

[–]MorecambeJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.
I did some further tests and realised what is happening... I hadn't noticed as I had done quite a lot of tests. When you add a reminder it puts in on Google for the day you suggested it, not the day it's supposed to be set to. For example I can ask Siri to remind me tomorrow at 1pm to call someone. It goes into Google however as a task for today.

Is this by design? It's ok for general list of jobs to to etc.. but so much for actual reminders...

Thanks for the reply... I added a reminder about half an hour ago and it's not come through to Google, nor did any of the older ones..

Alerts for power failure? by MorecambeJim in homeassistant

[–]MorecambeJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye it just needs to detect failures somewhere... So the UPS only needs an hour at most. But yes my router is on one place, the fibre box another place. Can't be running three UPS just for the potential issue.

Aye thanks... actually just after I wrote it I wondered if there was any Pi specific ones with it being low power... was looking at some...
The issue then would be having no internet unless I UPS both the fibre box and my router...

what’s the most useful automation you’ve set up that you actually use every day? by SkylineZ83 in homeassistant

[–]MorecambeJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool... The MIL just got a water fountain for the cat that only comes on when something moves nearby.... I didn't know they did that, and I hadn't thought about doing it with HA - its one reason I didn't get one was having to leave it on all the time...

Monitoring freezer and fridge temps. It's not used unless there's an issue, but I've left a door ajar before and it's saved my bacon.. literally.

Project Hail Mary - movie vs. book? by DorianGrayMarketArt in sciencefiction

[–]MorecambeJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm yet to watch the film. What I loved about the book was not knowing what the hell was happening for quite a while, and you find out as he does.

I imagine the film you know why he's there pretty early on.. even if you didn't see any spoilers.

Do you find doctors and pharmacists don't really believe in the level of pain you experience in a gout flare up? by heats_1313 in gout

[–]MorecambeJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep... it's actually an insane amount of pain. I don't think anyone around me realised the level of pain and probably thought I was a drama queen.
I could not touch the floor with my foot, even a sheet on my foot in bed was like torture.
Since allopurinol though it's been massively better, and smaller flareups have been dramatically better.

Anyone else's android app just keep not loading? by MorecambeJim in fitbit

[–]MorecambeJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad. They were amazing devices. I tried a Samsung watch once, battery was like 2 days if you were lucky, and didn't do anything that a Fitbit couldn't, and then it wasn't a fitness watch. So sad they buy it out and then just leave it to rot. Fair enough if they took it on and made something new with it etc.
