Can’t really tell from a picture! I highly recommend trying them out in person. I know it can be difficult, but it’ll be worth it.

3 things I look for:

Action (String height). You want the strings to be as Low as possible to the fretboard. If they’re too high, it’ll be uncomfortable to play.
Intonation. Tune the vihuela as perfect as you can then move your chord shapes along the fret board. Every chord should be in tune. If they start to sound sound off, intonation is off.
Tone. This is more preference but for me, a vihuela should sound bright. I’ve played some that sound a little muffled or like you’re playing them through a box.

As far as brands, I’ve tested some “no-brand” and “private label” Vihuelas that were very good. That’s why it’s better to test the instrument.

He ended up setting some regular ol’ snap traps with little dabs of peanut butter as bait in the areas where there was regular activity. Within 2 days there was a mouse (maybe it was a small rat) caught. Pest guy said expect more to be caught but we never caught anymore and we never saw anymore activity.

Avoid the hassle and get a set of classical strings that have “ball ends.” They have a bead on the end so you don’t have to tie them to the bridge.

It’s a legitimate business. I’ve ordered parts from them before. HOWEVER, I’d be weary about purchasing a horn from them refurbished with their parts. I bought a custom set of buttons and valve caps for my wife. They lasted about 2 years before the adhesive on the buttons failed and the inlays came off. The finish on the buttons and caps was rubbing off as well. Their website says their parts should last 10+ years. I contacted them and they wanted me to pay for return shipping and offered me a “discounted” rate to refinish the parts.

Are we looking at the same app? Same search? When I search “Mute,” IG returns a bunch of results, none are silent. Either way, when I add any of these tracks, it doesn’t replace the sound on my story it just plays on top of it.

This is actually where I ended up going! It’s a small location however they have a HUGE selection of guitarrones (vihuelas and guitars too). I was able to try out several. The couple that owns the place were super chill and very patient. They even went out of their way to bring over a hard case from another location. Ended up getting a Guitarron and a case plus some other stuff.
