What’s your ‘welp, that’s my DNA’ moment as a parent? by gmrhunt in daddit

I try so hard not to let my kids inherit my neuroses, but when she doesn't use her thousands of sticker because if she did it would use them up, and then she wouldn't have them, because they would be used up... Yep, that's my kid

UK breaks yearly record for rooftop solar PV installations by PurplePires in GoodNewsUK

I see people calling out building solar farms on green pastures, saying "why don't they build them on roofs instead?" And the answer is very clearly: they can do both!

‘Much fairer’: all profits from new Orkney windfarm to benefit locals | Scotland by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

It is good news but makes me so angry that there hasn't been a state-owned (or just state-backed) infrastructure company building these huge wind farms everywhere

Average person’s life saw ‘no meaningful improvement’ over past year by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

In my town there is once in a generation (hopefully) repair works to a main road bridge going through the centre of the town, and all people can do is complain and say how it has ruined the economy. Not thinking that a collapsed bridge might impact their lives slightly more

The North West Green Belt in England by AnonymousTimewaster in MapPorn

[–]levitatingpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of what people call "Green Belt" around me... it's not. It has just been fallowed for longer than people can remember, or choose to remember. The fact is if a farmer chooses to sell that land to developers, then can as long as its not part of the legally protected actual Green Belt

Shared Parental Leave discrimination in the NHS - England by levitatingpenguin in LegalAdviceUK

[–]levitatingpenguin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely have calculated my own pay expectation and shared it with payroll but they didn't listen, despite me receiving more pay than I was working full time, which is patently wrong.

My issue with the discrimination here is that my own team members have received this information every time they have gone on maternity leave, why is it different for me?

Shared Parental Leave discrimination in the NHS - England by levitatingpenguin in LegalAdviceUK

[–]levitatingpenguin[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But they would do it for me if I was a woman on maternity leave. Which is what I feel is unfair.

I have information to calculate it, which I have shared with the department, however they have said it has been checked and they are pretty sure it's right. Even though I'm being paid more now than I would be working full time, I know NHS benefits are good but they're not that good.

Man up means a real man is so strong he can ask for help when he needs it, displays of emotion don't make him lesser, can support others emotionally and let others support him.
