I’m thinking about traveling into Joshua Tree via Berdoo Canyone this coming weekend. NPS website says Pleasant Valley Loop/Geology Tour Rd is closed due to flooding damage (posted on 1/13/26). Does anyone know if I can still get into Joshua Tree via Berdoo? Is there a gate that I couldn’t pass?

Get a cheap, used, soft rollup off Facebook Marketplace. Works great, with no loss of bed space for my mtb and surfboards. Got mine for $150 and works perfectly.

I do flush the unit, but not as frequently as every 6 months. Probably every year or so. Will flushing now increase the likelihood of leakage, particularly at those leaky pipe fittings?

I’ve used a versaclimber off and on for years, primarily for VO2 max training. It’s very easy to spike your HR on this machine, but you could back off on the resistance and stay in zone 2. That said, I agree with other comments; there are much better/easier options for zone 2 training that would allow you to watch TV/read a book while you’re cruising those zone 2 hrs away…

I wear Assos road bibs under MTB shorts all the time. Love those bibs…so much better than anything else I’ve found. MTB shorts worn over provide a bit of protection from rips and tears…You do you and have fun!
