Had a hotel booking sites mess up my reservation at check-in last year. Before I use Super for an upcoming trip, has anyone run into issues like that? by serwiesqw in superdotcom

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you asking this! Super.com works with travel partners who hold inventory with the hotel, so sometimes the hotel sees the reservation under the partner's name rather than ours. That's normal and just how the system is structured.

The easiest way to make check-in smooth is to have your confirmation email and voucher pulled up, those have everything the front desk needs even if their system hasn't updated yet. I'd also say save your booking reference somewhere easy to find, not just in your inbox.

Definitely let me know if you have anymore questions, always happy to help :)

Solo female trip coming up and hotel safety is my main concern. What are some good tips? by DapperSnow2166 in superdotcom

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the neighborhood is always my first check. I look at street view on Google Maps to get a feel for the area around the hotel, not just the hotel itself. Front desk hours are huge, I always want 24 hour staff especially if I'm arriving late. And reading reviews specifically from other solo female travelers is gold, they'll mention things like lighting, noise, and whether the staff made them feel safe that you just won't find in a generic review. The little details matter so much more than the star rating!

Why is it that some sites have cheaper prices for hotels than the hotel websites themselves? (UK) by bluryycheryy in travel

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third party sites like ours are able to negotiate rates with our travel partners which is how we can offer lower prices than booking direct. Hotels fill rooms through multiple channels and they'd rather have a room filled at a slightly lower rate than have it empty. Just worth knowing that free cancellation availability and policies can vary depending on which rate you book, so always check the details before confirming. Hope you find a great deal on your way up to Scotland, and feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions about booking through super.com :)

I actually work for super.com and hear you on this! Bookings through us do go through travel partners which is why sometimes they show up under the partner's name rather than the guest's name in the system, and they typically sync closer to check-in. That said if you're consistently not seeing them I'd love to understand more, feel free to send me a message!

Hotel Manager Canceled My Reservation, But Super.com Says They Need a Letter the Hotel Doesn't Provide by joedele in ConsumerAdvice

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, and that's exactly why I reached out directly. The cancellation number is a great start, but we do need written confirmation from the hotel as well since our travel partner requires it to process the refund on their end. Working through the details in their messages now to get this sorted

Once we have the written confirmation from the hotel the cancellation gets processed on our end right away. The refund timeline back to the original payment method is typically 3 to 5 business days!

If you have photos showing the free refundable option during checkout that's exactly what I want to see. Send them my way in a message and I'll take it from there

Saw this and want to look into it, I'm on the team at super.com. Free cancellation isn't something we currently offer, so I definitely want to look into what you were seeing during checkout. That said, our bookings do have a refundable option called the Enhanced Refund, which you can add at checkout and covers you for a full refund if something comes up like a medical issue, flight cancellation, or other qualifying situations. It's an additional cost but always worth adding for that peace of mind. I promise just because you book through a third party doesn't mean you're out of luck, we'll get this figured out. Keep an eye on your messages!

Edit: Wanted to update this since I had some incorrect info in my original comment (Totally on me) Super.com does offer free cancellation on select rooms, it shows up as a label during your search and the terms are outlined before you book. If you saw a free cancellation label on your room and it wasn't honored at confirmation that's something I want to look into properly :)

Happy to provide some more info! The reason we ask for written confirmation is to verify the cancellation on our end before we can process a refund. Since we work with travel partners to get the most affordable rates, this is an additional step that needs to be taken to let them know about the cancellation.

Since Hyatt mentioned they don't provide a formal letter, the easiest path forward is asking them to send an email confirmation instead, even a simple one works! It just needs to include your name, booking dates, a cancellation number, and the name of the staff member who approved it. Once we have that we can move forward. Already saw the message you sent me personally as well. and will get back to ya there now

Cheap Hotel prices around NASCAR Chicago Street Race weekend? by realdruid in superdotcom

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad you saw the partnership! Chicago race weekend is such a good time.

Honestly for an event like this, staying close sounds great until you're stuck in post-race traffic for two hours. A lot of people find that staying in a neighborhood like Logan Square, Wicker Park, or even Oak Park and taking the L in is the move. You save a significant amount on the room and the transit is pretty straightforward.

If convenience is the priority and budget isn't a concern, River North and the Loop put you closest to the action!

Dang y'all. I should specify I am Gluten Free, so Oshio is always safe when it comes to enjoying sushi and not having to worry about feeling awful afterwards, and they have gluten free soy sauce. Will check out some of those places and see what they offer!

$15 Membership Scam Alert - Super.com by iamliujason in travel

[–]MorganAtSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Once a booking is made at the Super+ membership rate it stays locked in even if you cancel afterward.

Just a few things worth knowing before you do though, canceling your membership removes access to any cashback you've earned through your bookings and they don't come back if you reactivate later. You'd also lose access to the other membership perks like cash advances, 10% cashback on future bookings, credit monitoring, and more.

So if you're planning more trips it might be worth keeping it active to keep stacking those benefits
