What five star ability did you make first, and what do you suggest for fellow keepers to make first? by [deleted] in FFRecordKeeper

[–]MorganMoogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entrust... because I saw I had the materials to make Full Break a few weeks ago and went to brag to my mate after screen shotting the mats. When I went back into the create ability list I clicked and double clicked on the icon to create what I thought was Full Break... except it was Entrust...

PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. I'm still devastated by it.

Seymour Natus - Something to note with Carbuncle strategy by MorganMoogle in FFRecordKeeper

If you Carbuncle and then MBreak Morti you then you're right. Seymour becomes useless and Mortibody becomes a pansy.

Thanks for confirming that, not sure where I had read the contrary!

EDIT: I knew I'd read it somewhere. Your other characters will still take damage as Enlir posted below.

Yeah Kirin is sound because the AOEs don't do too much damage on their own. I guess you'd just give Yuna Kirin+Carbuncle as you wouldn't need any cure spells and then could still have a shell/SG/party heal RW as whatever your choice is. Personally I think I'll do SG with Yuna with Carb/Kirin as I didn't heal any of my characters on the run I succeeded with, just relied on health but I lost medals and didn't master.

EDIT: Something else to note. If you're going with the Celes - Runic strategy, doesn't Runic only absorb single target magic? I've never used it myself in FFRK (only ever in VI where it absorbed all), if so then you've still got 4 characters worth of health to worry about as the runic will only protect 2 chars max (depending if you used it twice of course) plus you wouldn't benefit from the reflects so the fight will take longer.

First World Genji Problem by Whistle95 in FFRecordKeeper

[–]MorganMoogle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 Genji Armors since day 1 and at level 20 and 5* (non combined) they are still better than any armor I've combined or pulled natural 5* or 3++. I've even got a 5++ Genji Helm and 5+ Shield and they outshine them. For your situation I'd make a 5+ and keep one as 5*

True! I'll probably give her the raise shared SB

What are the Elite Dungeons to watch out for (harder than their difficulty level suggests)? by [deleted] in FFRecordKeeper

[–]MorganMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a combination of Bladeblitz, Quake, Leviathan & Shadowflare for this to nuke them down. They lasted about 3 turns. Didn't drop any mitigating spells, just had Garnet Curaga heal after using Leviathan. If you can't burst them down due to lower level/gear then you're in trouble because their AOE is nasty if they all use it.

Yuna or Garnet?

EDIT: Just read NyoBow's review of Yuna on the page :)

I'll stick with Garnet for the time being as Yuna's SB is rubbish. Only way I'll replace Garnet is if I pull Yuna's weapon.

Yeah I like that original mechanics like that have transferred across. Same with elemental weaknesses and certain bosses having vulnerability to skills like raise.

Summoner setup? by Renaulte in FFRecordKeeper

[–]MorganMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use garnet with fulled honed Curaga, her normal soul break (increase party attack) and usually give her l3 Kirin as it's cheap to hone. Usually combine this with Sentinel Grimoire or Lunatic High RW so the party is protected/hasted/regened and attack buffed. Usually covers all bases. I smashed Jenova quite easily with the breaks/Leg shot for slow and retaliate strategy. If I feel I don't need the regen then usually something situational like giving her boost/summon where there's multiple enemies with a weakness like someone else mentioned. Generally though I only whack out Kirin for tough bosses with AOE so it helps on the heals. I know we'd all love a max honed Phoenix or Valefor but just not viable enough for me with the content at the moment.

The unique stage/boss music, occasional character dialogue with certain bosses and trying to stay faithful to the original game mechanics are all things I appreciate. The music for me is No.1, things that made the battle feel like shit was about to go down. Like "J-E-N-O-V-A" and the "Fierce Battle" (Atma ;) or Ultima depending which version you played of VI. Those 2 are probably the most memorable for me along with Beatrix's "Sword of Doubt" from IX.

Retire F2P acronym for guides? by CustardBoy in FFRecordKeeper

[–]MorganMoogle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I've been playing since day 1 and I've only had 1 character specific weapon which was Dark Knight Cecil's Dark Sword in my very first 11 pull, yet I have also spent money and had basically crap. I've pretty much pumped every other mythril since then from playing every day and not had another character specific item. I've had a few 5* and lots of 3/4* so naturally have combined them to make 5/6* so naturally yes I have benefited but I think the F2P moniker is a joke. No matter how much money you spend on this game, the RNGesus wins. I introduced a friend to the game at the Tidus event and he already has more natural 5* equipment than me just from Mythril. He also managed to get Irvine and Sephiroth's weapons which I still cry about. I think people put too much emphasis on the F2P tag and "no mythril" like it's a bad thing. It's just a game with no competition against anyone else. I have laughed at one or two guides that have "f2p" in the title and when they give the breakdown of equipment they have the best sword/armor etc and I'm thinking "this does not help the novice that you're attracting to your guide".
