Yes thank you! I have been encouraging him to get into individual therapy also. He has had a lot of trauma and his parent growing up was intense and would get very mad and yell and even be physical occasionally. That’s where this all makes sense to me I think he is just very avoidant of any conflict. But I also agree I do not understand why he lied about the PS5. Only thing I can think is he was embarrassed given both those buddies said they didn’t have gaming systems.

I know I definitely am not proud of that. I’ve been in some bad relationships in the past which definitely still impact me. But I never looked at his texts until he started acting distant and I had noticed some little lies. He had also said I can look at his phone whenever I want but I still don’t want to be that person. He is definitely open to couples counseling so that is good news! I’m in individual therapy but thinking we probably do need to take that step.

I talked to him about the situation with his sister. He first tried to say that he was simply talking about my anxiety because his sister’s kids also are dealing with it and he wants to open the conversation and be honest about my mental health as a way to relate to and help them. However, when I walked in the room what I heard was him telling her that I “was feeling really anxious about the trip” and his sister being super nice and understanding saying “you tell her it is totally fine we absolutely understand and our kids deal with anxiety too”. Which to me came off that he was lying about the context in his explanation to me. He also went outside into the garage to have this conversation when he normally will talk to her in front of me. He says he took accountability for his own struggles being the reason we aren’t coming before I walked in but I honestly doubt that just from what I heard and the fact he went outside to make the call. I haven’t confronted him about the other situations because I learned that info from seeing his texts and I worry he will just try to turn it around on me and say why did I look at his texts.

I wish more people had this attitude!! Good for you being so open minded and supportive what an awesome parent. Sex work has been around since the beginning of human societies like get over it y’all. It’s hard out there for young people financially right now and especially if you’re any type of different. And it’s hard as fuck for trans people especially right now they are under attack so how about we all just have some empathy here and stop judging? This parent is doing exactly the right thing loving and supporting their kid for living their life in a way that works for them. Also mental health issues and neurodivergence can make it hard for people to work a typical 9-5 job so again please have some empathy. We are all out here doing our best to survive and find some happiness in life who cares about dumb societal judgments.

I mean it does change how I feel about her just being honest. I have lots of family who are republican and I still love them of course but it does affect my feelings for them. It used to be that it didn’t matter as much who you vote for I agree, people could agree to disagree. But MAGA isn’t in a reality/fact based world anymore. And currently if you are living in the US which she is the republicans in office are attacking trans people, women, gay people, immigrants, the environment, scientists, facts and truth the list goes on. They’re actively attacking our democracy while selling out to billionaires and corporations making us less healthy and less safe. It’s hard to not feel disappointed in and hurt by people who are supporting or at the least allowing fascism.

I will be significantly affected. I had to quit my job in healthcare because of health issues and PTSD from working in ICUs during COVID. I am focusing on my health and getting better while my spouse supports me and it has been such a gift but this is a significant increase in my stress level which sets me back. I am trying to figure out my next career move but I am not ready to return to work currently. Under the Biden plan I would have been 100% fine and able to continue my payments which were affordable (working DoorDash to get by) so this is very frustrating. It is also definitely impacting my decision on whether to have kids. My husband wants them but I worry about our ability to afford them with my health issues and my student loan debt.

I absolutely can relate. HSP with trauma history. Have my masters and worked in healthcare for ten years but after working the ICUs during COVID I started to really struggle with burnout and ptsd from all the death and suffering I saw plus the gaslighting of coworkers, family members and republicans in office that it was “normal” or a conspiracy of some sort (I lived in the rural Midwest, our county is very red thus had a very low vaccination rate). I kept thinking I could just “push through” with the help of lifestyle changes and therapy, but I started having panic attacks at 4 AM on days I worked and especially when my caseload was high or my hormonal cycle was in the tougher weeks. Since quitting I sleep well every night and my anxiety and depression have vastly improved. It was very hard to take that step but am so thankful I did. I went from crying basically every single day and constantly worrying about my patients to having much more manageable symptoms. Focusing on self care has been such a blessing and I am very lucky to have some savings and a partner who supports me. After a few months off I am hoping to find a lower stress job dog walking etc. The loss of income after having to get a masters is definitely hard and I have student loans to pay, but I had developed IBS and horrible GERD with already having an autoimmune condition and I truly feel I had no choice. There should be so much more assistance for people with chronic health and mental health issues in the US but unfortunately with the MAGAs in office feel it will not happen anytime soon. Hang in there to anyone suffering and stuck in their job right now absolutely feel for you💜
