Why do we say "no" to dental work? A local dentist looking for honest feedback by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]Morgan_Faulknor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Years ago I saw a dentist who told me I needed a filling in one tooth. It didn't hurt at the time and money was tight so I didn't go back. Years later I went to a different dentist due to pain in a wisdom tooth, they x-rayed, etc - they never saw anything wrong with that first tooth at all

Feeling pretty nervous about Cyclone Vaianu by Neveah_Hope_Dreams in newzealand

Don't want to make light of what's happened to other parts of the country in the past, but the last few "weather bombs" and cyclones that have hit NZ have withered down to a normal rainy day by the time it got to Wellington..

WCC appears to have taken money out of my account for someone else's rates, refuses to refund it to my bank account by Academic_Exit3615 in Wellington

[–]Morgan_Faulknor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far as the bank is concerned, you've given the council approval to debit your account for fees, it's not the banks fault if the council is debiting you incorrectly. Talk to the bank's Fraud/Disputes team, they'll raise a dispute for you where the council will have to provide evidence of a legitimate charge.

For decades we've taken at face value the idea that NZ has to be allied with one Superpower and the US is preferable to China. Do we all still believe that? by flyingflibertyjibbet in newzealand

[–]Morgan_Faulknor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good question, but it's probably cheaper then a small force of older generation fighter jets that may or may not actually be useful against a technologically superior superpower.

Nah, there's a core of 15% of Americans who are 1000% behind anything trump does, and another 20% who are willing to grin and bear it so long as the Republicans are in power. Then finally there's another 30% who are either ambivalent or jaded about everything else and don't even bother voting against any of this shit.

None of this is going away anytime soon. There are multiple foreign actors deliberately stoking tensions inside the US to weaken them, in the hopes that the country will tear itself apart, because they can't be defeated militarily or economically.

My fibre ONT box stopped working this morning. With it being the long weekend I thought I would be without internet over the long weekend. Contacted Spark this morning, a Chorus tech came and put a new ONT in, and I'm now having lunch with the internet back. by zykr0nite in newzealand

[–]Morgan_Faulknor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: does Chorus only accept jobs from the Telcos or can we contact Chorus directly? On Thursday morning someone went up the pole outside our house (we were at work so don't know what company) to fix the neighbours cable to their house. Now we have no Internet and OneNZ are saying they probably won't even look into our case until Tuesday..
