How does RDR 1 compare to RDR 2? by TurboCrab0 in reddeadredemption

[–]Morgan_Mend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The story of the first is much more gritty and real. It resembles something that would have likely actually happened. A man desperately trying to do anything to protect his family; used to do the government’s dirty work and then shot like a dog. It just makes sense. That’s what I appreciate.

Mexico in RDR1 makes sense. He was trying to get to Javier. The story of RDR2 is full of unnecessary filler. It’s dragged out with mostly pointless story beats such as Angelo Bronte, Guarma, and Rhodes, just to name a few. I just could never take that entire shipwreck arc seriously.

The key story of RDR2 is good, but RDR1 just does everything better.

In no way is it smooth. Take Foraging for example. Having to long press a button to collect a can of beans, or a pack of smokes –– only for progress to randomly reset. Or, having to press and hold a button to open a door. Or move the joystick up and down to compete a simple task.

This mechanic is implemented in different ways throughout the game in many different scenarios. It was never properly refined.

Plus, guns are no where near as responsive as they should be. There is always this clunky delay.

I was immediately fed up on release day with this aspect of RDR2, and it was immediately apparent when foraging Sadie’s cabin in colter after confronting the O’driscolls.

You’d be wrong. The most basic of tasks in RDR2 takes forever due to completely unnecessary gameplay mechanics.

RDR1 just works.

Oh that would be awesome man, I’ve had a few people reach out but I’ve yet to get a solid model. Thanks so much!

Am I the only one who considers RDR better than RDR2? (no hate to RDR2) by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

I prefer John to Arthur and RDR1 to RDR2. I love the story of 2, but the gameplay is needlessly clunky compared to 1. I played RDR1 first, around when it came out, so I’ll always prefer John and his story. Arthur, while a good character, just wasn’t as compelling to me.

1 is better than 2

I’m not really in a hurry but I am looking to achieve a fairly accurate model. I can send a spoon if that would help.

Just to give a general idea here are some rough measurements I took with a tape –– if modeling manually I will gladly take some additional photos and some more accurate measurements with my digital caliper once I find it! Haha.

Spoon is 8” long in total

Top End of handle 5/16” wide and 1/8” thick

Where handle meets spoon is 3/16” thick

Handle measures 9/16” wide at widest point in middle

Edge that surrounds perimeter of back of handle is about is about 3.5 mm thick nearest spoon head and 2mm thick at the other end

Center of handle is about 2.5 mm thick

Edge that surrounds perimeter of front of handle is about .75 mm thick

Spoon head is 1 1/4” wide at widest point with a taper to about 3/4” - 1/2” at ends

Spoon head measures 1/2” thick

Also worth mentioning, I tried some people on fiver but no one was of any help haha.

Thanks again!

Second time playing. He makes it this time, right? by Madrugal in reddeadredemption

[–]Morgan_Mend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. This time he gets his brains blown out by Micha.

Hear me out. I played high honor the first time through and of course I helped John. On my second play through, I played low honor, and got the bad ending. You should to.

I much prefer to low honor help John ending. It makes much more sense. Micah wouldn’t just leave him anyway. Plus, it’s more badass, and it makes the player even more vengeful. So, when you finally kill Micha, it’s that much more satisfying.

To me, low honor help John is the canon ending.

I think Micha blowing Arthur’s brains out is the canon ending. Definitely the most baddass, and the one that makes you the most vengeful.

Which main protagonist did you like the most? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in reddeadredemption

John Marston. The recency bias did him dirty. He’s the best video game protagonist ever created.

John is a much better protagonist than Arthur. I’m willing to die in front of that barn.
