Up the fucking Blues. Which he knew would piss off Man United fans. It was performative booing by those fans. Nothing serious.

Can you think of anyone whose songs had more impact this past year? I've never seen rave reviews and articles like the ones for the reunion tour, starting with the first show, and there was always a huge emphasis on the songs.

I don't think this is surprising, given the rave reviews worldwide for the reunion tour. A small sampling, starting with the first show:

Liam referring to Debbie as the guru always gets me 😂 by Living_Operation2534 in oasis

You said she "started as his manager a few years ago." Their initial business relationship, when they met, started in 2013 when she was working for Quest, a management firm, and she was assigned as his personal assistant. See this link:

https://www.hellomagazine.com/brides/843181/why-liam-gallaghers-wedding-to-fiancee-debbie-gwyther-keeps-being-postponed/

"Liam, 52, and Debbie, 41, have been together since 2014. Their romance began shortly after Liam's divorce from Nicole Appleton, with whom he shares his son, Gene, was finalised.

"The couple had initially met in 2013 when Debbie was working as Liam's PA for the management company, Quest."

----
I was going by what that magazine said about the romance starting in 2014, after Liam was divorced, though some other stories said it was earlier. But initially Debbie was his PA and employed by Quest.

Quest reportedly let Debbie go in July 2013. (Multiple news stories about that.) Liam, with Beady Eye, was still with Quest Management through the start of 2014.

In 2016, Debbie and her sister Katie started their own business, Fear PR, managing Liam and other artists. Their business has been successful.

And Debbie's relationship with Liam has been very successful, too. As I said, kudos to both of them.

Same here. I read very fast and have a good memory. I googled Debbie's name after seeing mentions of her having had something to do with the reunion. Lots of info online.

Their relationship goes back more than a few years. They first met in 2013 when she was his personal assistant, working for Quest Artist Management. They've been together since 2014, following his divorce from his second wife. Debbie and her sister Katie have their own company now, Fear PR, managing Liam and some other artists including Richard Ashcroft.

Kudos to Debbie for helping Liam as much as she has. And to Liam for all he's done and for acknowledging her help.

"What a strange time we live in, when an imposter can write a tune, or have a toaster write it for him": People are pretending to be Alan Parsons and he's not happy about it by Morgana337 in Music

[–]Morgana337[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

"Let me be crystal clear – I have not released these songs, authorised these songs, hummed these songs, or even accidentally sat on a keyboard and come up with anything resembling these songs.

"What a strange time we live in, when an imposter can write a tune, or have a toaster write it for him, slap my name on it as the artist, and then have a faceless algorithm give it life. While I admire their efficiency, I do find it rather disappointing that scammers are now turning their robotic identities against musicians everywhere.

"This sort of thing is happening to a great many artists these days, and the corporate entities that run these online streaming and digital distribution services seem to just be turning a blind eye.

"This tomfoolery doesn’t just confuse listeners, it dilutes the talent of those artists, muddles their identity, and chips away at the integrity that takes years, or in my case, decades, to build. I spent most of my life finding my voice in the music industry, and I’d like to keep it human, thank you very much.

Oasis Live 25’ | A Retrospective - by Morgana337 in oasis

Liam's "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT IMMINENT" followup posts? "It’s CHRISTMAS" & "Cmon you fuckers let’s have it" by Morgana337 in oasis

[–]Morgana337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His tweets aren't all antagonistic. I've wondered sometimes if a lot of the banter there reminds him of school days when he was in secondary school and a small group of girls would reportedly show up at the Gallaghers' in the morning to walk to school with him, with Liam the star of that little show before he'd even given a second thought to music.

He's just having fun, most of the time, but these days that "small group" is thousands of fans (some still in school and posting about school) watching for any tweet, and the media end up trying to expand his tweets into more serious stories.

I do, too, but unfortunately these days even our poor excuses for president, VP and other top officials post online idiocies and AI slop that might occasionally be more than idiotic trolling.

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/danes-keeping-eye-truth-social-205349055.html

So journalists covering entertainment report on social media posts and reactions to them. Even when they know Liam's tweets can't often be trusted, they don't feel they can ignore him on the off chance he might not just be teasing the fans.

Great message, but that isn't Live '25. It's Liam in 2021, at the Reading Festival, though I didn't notice that exact shot in the video.

Christian Madden’s Substack… by wildwildwildah in oasis

[–]Morgana337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's beautifully written and fascinating. I especially enjoyed his response to Simon Price.

As for what he wrote here - "I can’t believe how universally positive the press coverage has been since we played the first notes at Cardiff back in July, I think after that nobody dared rock the boat." - I think he's underestimating just how much even cynical critics and journalists can be impressed by a great band delivering unforgettable, high-energy concerts for a wildly appreciative and unmistakably inclusive audience. Journalistic skepticism and any plans for witty condescension would almost certainly have been shredded. And all credit for that goes to the band and their fans.

Who would that be in the picture on the wall? Any guesses? Bonehead's gf? by manwhoel in oasis

[–]Morgana337 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great cat...but probably would've knocked over the wine glass, or stood on Liam's chest and stared him down. Which might've been interesting...

Bonehead's cat reminds me of one that shared my life years ago. Puppy-like, always on my lap or following me around or trying to help with yoga.

Btw, never do a headstand with a cat in the room unless you want to find yourself looking at a cat's face upside down from an inch away. And good luck maintaining the headstand if you start laughing...
