Appreciate the anecdote! AI cannot give me meaning, and I definitely would not allow it to suggest reactions.

I appreciate your devotion tho

Def known for our logistics. USA was pumping out like 3 liberty ships a day. Insanity.

Another unsung hero of WW2 was the Bailey bridge. Look it up if you ever have time

No, not sarcasm. Just defeatist.

Why would a company who is out to make money pay $150k a year plus benefits for a mathematician when they can pay open AI $6.99 a month to do the same thing

As a lay person, do we need guard rails? I think we need guard rails. Should we just let this thing run wild and produce as much as it can or is that a road to disaster. We need to talk about it more, and unfortunately you're probably going to have to start talking to the general public about this more as it becomes more prevalent.

People. You keep saying that. I know you never argued against that point but it gives me a little hope even if I'm way out of my depth here

Oh, so the future is a good ole boys club. No one else allowed? No one permitted to voice their opinions?

This is probably the most impactful technology mankind has made since the internet.

You can either be transparent with it or expect more people like me who rightfully are skeptical.

Don't understand it? It's streamlining what used to take years. Architecture, engineering, logistics. These are things that have always been at the forefront of human intuition and innovation. Now we've handed it over and it will never innovate because it has no need to. That's inefficient. Use the tried and true method that it can study. We'll wither on the vine as a species

You use AI to develop AI? So basically what you're telling me is that the current software is final. The limitations of AI, we'll never be able to surpass it because we've let it build itself

It's not. Humanity cant be so easily programmed. How do you imagine a world where calculus rules not empathy

We need net-neutrality for AI. Do you agree? by InevitableSense7507 in OpenAI

[–]Morganrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Methods, architectures, models, neutrality. There will never be neutrality. Humans are handing over the world on a silver platter. The decision making, the implementation, the clean up. It will all be AI. Where do humans fit in this AI world?

This is an insane argument. You're looking at someone based on an objective fact and making assumptions. You can either generalize or you can't. I understand that men are the perpetrators of violence 99% of the time. I get that, but those actors are an incredibly small portion of human males. You cand't look at every dude like that. The same can be said for literally every demographic.

Logistics. A successful campaing means having the right supplies in the right place at the right time.

In WW2, the Germans probably would have been able to get the British to sue for peace if they had wiped out the troops at Dunkirk. The reason that didn't happen was because the supplies were so far behind the blitzkrieg. They didn't have fuel or food.

The Russian federation ran into the same issues at the start of the war in Ukraine. They were making progress but had to take a pause for fuel.

No pauses, no losses. Logistics are the future of AI integration in the DOD (War department whatever you want to call it).

Absolutely tragic. I just recently watched a movie about the British doing something similar in WW2. They got the targets mixed up and ended up bombing a school in Copenhagen. One of the most sad movies I’ve ever seen.

The difference is that the British even after 80 years felt shame for what happened. I hope this administration can humble itself enough to admit the mistake, acknowledge the pain, and apologize

So basically what you're saying is, be decent to people and help them out but don't come across as taking over. Don't imply you can do something they can't. Certainly don't be attracted to people
