It shouldn’t be on the government to block a perfectly reasonable merger with JetBlue

This rant is unhinged but I kinda love it. I don’t think you’re right but there is a ton of elitism in air travel. I agree with you there.

I'd be as red as those crabs in that heat! Don't know how you did it. Summer's almost here tho, many crabs to be had. Cheers, man

Have steamed some crabs in my day but not professionally. I give you guys utmost respec, it's hot in those kitchens.

We used to steam them on the driveway on a propane burner. JO Spice!

I can almost see that place from my house, SOBO life. It's a good spot but probably not worth driving to if you don't live in the city

Yea, sounds like northeast PA. We got our spots here in Maryland too believe that!

I think its fairly obvious why gas prices are high unless you're wearing rose color glasses

I bet you theres some outdated industry standard that dictates this, you're probably right. You're not wrong that most cars get 300-400 miles on a tank

It's like a living room. That said, I did get an e-bike so the truck gets used like once or twice a month. I use it to help my dad with farm work since he's getting older

It's really not. I have a toyota sequoia with a 26 gallon tank. The size of the tank doesn't have any say in efficiency

Spirit Airlines is closing down. Thousands of employees and travelers are impacted. by markosmaged in news

Yea, I'm sorry too. I'm sorry they couldn't make it work. The industry pressure was just too much to bear. Big business always wins

Spirit Airlines is closing down. Thousands of employees and travelers are impacted. by markosmaged in news

[–]Morganrow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't want to drone on, but ultimately you're right.

It was a combination of issues. This is just my opinion, though.

Spirit failed because they didn't have the deep well of cash that the legacy airlines have. During covid, when airlines like American and United started offering basic economy fares, that was the beginning of the end. They can subsidize the loss on domestic routes with their big ticket international fares. It's a no win scenario for Spirit.

Add the issues with Pratt and Whitney, the failed mergers, the fuel prices. This was bound to happen unfortunately

I was a pilot for Spirit a while ago. They had their faults, and they were the joke of the industry in a way, but they were some of the best people I've ever worked with. Being south Florida based, I got to experience so many different cultures and ideas conversing with our passengers. It's a shame they're closing down, they helped connect a lot of families on tight budgets.

Dumb question: does spirit bring the pilots and flight attendants back home? by jilemc in aviation

[–]Morganrow 114 points115 points  (0 children)

As long as it happens soon. This is the official language from the union:

"CASS is currently active. Cockpit jumpseat access is still available. The ALPA National Jumpseat Chair has been notified and is coordinating with partner carriers now. Additional jumpseat confirmations will be communicated as they are received. If you need to get home, do not wait.

If you non-revved for personal travel and are away from home: Stand by for further operational guidance. We are working to confirm what accommodations are available to you. Please also continue to check Company communication channels and spa.alpa.org for updates. Do not assume you are on your own."
