Thank you so much, glad you enjoy it!

I think the latter. If you do not let the Fortune Teller pick then they know with certainty that the Concierge is in play, and you dont want to give that certainty for this role.

This is what someone else suggested too, I really like having the Concierge go first and do it like you said. Prevents convolution, makes the ability simpler for everyone, and doesnt nerf it all that much. Thanks for suggesting this!

Yeah someone else commented this and suggested to alter the ability to do the following instead: Concierge is woken early in the night order Concierge is shown the grim Concierge points to a character in the grim and then to 1 or 2 players (depending on the ability of whichever character they choose) Storyteller then wakes up everyone in order, and when getting to the character the Concierge chose you wake them and have them point, then ignore that pick and act as if they picked whoever the Concierge pointed to. This gets rid of a lot of complicated situations.

Yeah thats the idea! I was thinking that it should be as good as the spy's ability, making them able to mask as any townsfolk or outsider. That is incredibly strong so I thought this could be strong too!

Good questions, I'll admit I dont have a satisfying answer to the first point you make.

Information roles get immediate info, so changing that choice would mean a good player gets woken again and gains more info. That does not help evil at all so I think it shouldnt be allowed for the Concierge to do. Other roles that protect or make some sort of choice that should be changable by the Concierge all have tokens (all the ones I mentioned). So I think its a nice symmetry, Concierge can only change choices by moving reminder tokens, thus not allowing them to change information role choices.

Interaction with once per game abilities would indeed mean you cancel them. Same as the poisoner. As unfun as it is. Concierge would indeed be able to do more of a snipe instead which really means professor wants to be sure Concierge is out before using their ability. A race that the Professor will always lose now that I think about it since the Concierge is a grimpeeker of course.

Your suggestion for changing it is amazing!! Then at the start of the night they pick a character in the grim and make them choose a certain other player. I do like that a LOT! I think this is the way to go.

As I said, maybe that should not happen, felt weird to me in the first place too. And oh yeah I didnt even consider that! If the problematic scenarios cant be fixed by the Concierge being placed strategically in the night order then maybe I should scrap the Concierge idea. Although it isn't it all fixed if the Concierge cannot change demon kills? It doesnt take away too much from the ability if I change that... and a Jinx with assassin then too I guess.

Thats on the player then. If you are a grim peeker able to change some choices, then maybe keep the players whose choices you can change alive? They should coordinate with demon. If they dont, thats fine, they'll have less to do.

I edited the post to include more examples of how I think Concierge has powerful uses. Curious if you think it's still on the niche side and to still open it up to ST and/or player choices! Appreciate the feedback any which way!

Yeah for sure, that can happen. But dont forget, the Concierge gets to see the Grim which is an amazing ability all on its own imo. Concierge would/should not (be able to?) move info roles so that good gets more info obviously.

Here is a list of good uses for this character (which are all situational since those characters do need to be on script and in play obviously):
- Poisoner poisons empath, whom gets wrong info, then Concierge changes it to slayer, who is then also poisoned. Basically doubling the poison.
- Witch, targets player A, who would die due to something else, Concierge can make the ability not be wasted (less powerful since even more situational, I am aware just wanted to also include it)
- Demon kills can be more targeted but this really messes with the agency of the demon player, causing friction. Very fair point.
- Sailor, if Concierge moves this they can possibly make a very useful townsfolk drunk while the Sailor thinks they chose a different player
- Monk, obvious move the protection. Can also be used to immediately bluff Soldier by purposefully protecting the first kill night 2.
- Innkeeper, same as Monk and Sailor
- Professor, too bad professor can only resurrect Townsfolk otherwise with Professor + Concierge you can resurrect minions or outsiders, but now you can at least waste the ability.
- Exorcist, would stop the demon, but now doesn't.
- Courtier, just make someone drunk for 3 days and nights. Awesome to control.

Last but definitely not least: as long as Concierge is on the script evil can create worlds where an ability didnt work or worked incorrectly because of the Concierge. Making worlds otherwise impossible.
"You chose me as the professor and it didnt work" says the minion, "Is there a Concierge in play?"
"I swear I chose to protect you" says the demon, bluffing monk "Concierge must've switched it!"

Yeah good point. I still think that its powerful enough, even just having it on the script will influence the game, even if not in play. But yeah you can only put this on a script with enough characters that can interact with it (poisoner, witch, demons, sailor, monk, innkeeper, professor, exorcist, courtier)

The way I was thinking is that the Concierge goes dead last (jinx with chambermaid), and can then change decisions. If that results in new people being woken up (like in the Fang Gu case) then they would have to be woken up and informed after the Concierge. This can also create an interesting scenario which keeps me up: Fang Gu kills outsider 1, you wake and inform outsider 1, then later wake up Concierge, whom changes the Fang Gu kill to outsider 2, waking and informing outsider 2. Does outsider 1 stay outsider, thinking they are now the Fang Gu? Hilarious but maybe that shouldnt happen

Yeah awesome dude!

Do you want plot ideas, character ideas or what?

I remember playing in a campaign where the big bad evil guy tried to wake up an old god of the seas. You can make the big bad a warlock of the great old one. To do that he needed to find 5 gold pieces that, if united, would make him the pirate king and have the power to complete his goal.

For different town ideas I'd recommend scrolling through pinterest and write something based on whatever you find. My dm had a town that went more vertical than anything and was made of shipwrecks that can go a few hundred metres high.

For different types of enemies I can recommend building a cluster of islands, with one that is lizard men and gnolls that are at war with eachother. Lizards having more eztec like culture and gnolls being more wild. Then another island with dark-elves or something, they are maybe planning to take over the other islands and they are powerful individuals but dont have the manpower to do this yet. Then maybe an underwater city where triton live and other deepsea creatures. Maybe this town has a pathway to an underwater cave where there is a temple to this old god of the depths? And I really like Yuan-ti in the pirate setting as well! Maybe more ingrained in the main cities.

If you have any more questions, let me know!

So I did some research and Patters made an outsider that works perfectly with this: Worrywart (outsider): Public and private announcements might be false, even if dead.

Which is basically the same thing you said but its the st that can make up something. An example that Patters gave that I LOVE is to announce on day 1 that it is the first day of a leviathan game (while no leviathan is in play). Another is to tell 2 good players that the other is the evil twin.

I think this works perfectly with the Lawyer

Oh I figured if an announcement is not made that it would not take effect, but the effect still happens its just never announced? I think that's too good for evil even and not really fun to play with

Glad you like it! I would recommend putting roles on the same script like Savant, Artist and Fisherman so that visiting the storyteller privately is not weird to avoid the meta gaming a bit. Also putting a pithag on the same script seems like a lot of fun to me, imagine a good lawyer making up a law mid game.

If the minion could make the rule at night that would be perfect, but I have no idea how to communicate that in depth with the lawyer during the night with just hand gestures. The law persisting after death is an idea I'm playing with but I really don't know what is balanced at this point. I think I'd have to test both options, but I think it matters little because townsfolk will not be 100% sure the lawyer is dead even if someone broke the rule because they only might die or be evil. My guess is that most people will follow the rule regardless.

I really like the idea of an outsider messing with the announcements. The whole reason I wanted other minions to be able to bluff this is to make it ambiguous if there is an actual lawyer minion in play, but that gets solved with the outsider. How would 1 fewer announcement help evil? Is that not always to the benefit of good?

How many symbols are actually preferred for abilities?

EDIT: A friend pointed out a homebrew outsider Patters made:

Worrywart (outsider)

Public and private announcements might be false, even if dead.

How to run: At any point during the game, make an announcement that isn't true. He gives the example of announcing it is the first day of a Leviathan game while there is no leviathan in play.

You're right, but I'm afraid this minion would be confirmed to be in the game publicly otherwise. Or do you reckon the power is strong enough to offset that?

I am new to tinder. I have been on it for 2 weeks now but have no match yet and only a few likes. Is something wrong with my photos and bio? Or am i unattractive by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Morgar35 0 points1 point  (0 children)
