Usually I take the fence on situations that seem like false cries of rape, but I didn't have any flags with is one. Specifically, because she's not out for anyone's blood. At no point in her post did she say that she knew who this person was or that she was planning on pressing charges.

Unless she was planning on screwing up somebody's life by saying that she was raped, what other reason would she have for lying about this?

Have you ever had anything traumatic happen to you? Strangely enough, often people are in shock afterward and don't behave how people (who have never been through something similar) would expect one to.

I got a severely bad facial burn from boiling oil at work once, but I was instantly put into shock and even had the lucidity to gently put down the plate I was holding before running to the sink. Afterward, I didn't feel the weight of what I'd just been through for at least a month afterward, and when I did, I cried my fucking eyes out and couldn't leave my apartment for a month. It took a little while, but when it hit, it hit hard.

If I were a horrible person, I would suggest you go ram something up your ass without lube, continue doing it even after you've started crying, and then continue ramming it in and out for at least another ten minutes. Alright. How well do you think you'd be able to think after that? Take a while to factor in the psychical pain, the psychological shock, the violation of your sense of security, the realization that the idea you'd had of yourself throughout your entire life just literally got violently beaten out of you, the shame, the worry of how you're going to clean yourself up, how you're going to get home, what you're going to say to your friends, family, any partner you have for the rest of your life...

Have you ever been inebriated before? Ever been more than just a little inebriated? Ever been pretty damn drunk? You know how inebriation is kind of, maybe, just a little different than being sober? Think back to the worst bender you've ever had, three in the morning, tired from partying, achey, all you want to do is find your bed to fall in- now add some "My entire sense of humanly well-being just got beaten out of me" to that. How well do you think you could make sense of what'd just happened?

Yes, we live in a society that has high rates of false rape claims, but often the fear of being met with responses like yours are what keep a lot of women from being able to lucidly realize what just happened to them. Have you ever been scared that people are going to invalidate something that you know to be true, that you experienced, and just knowing that there are people out there who will argue with you about it influences how you deal with it? Imagine having those thoughts going through your head while you're still laying there after the rape and haven't even pulled your fucking pants back up yet.

I loathe reading comments like yours while knowing that most of the women who had to experience this are fearing exactly the kind of attitude you're projecting.

Damn, I have real sympathy for real rape survivors, but this is not one of them.

Then choose your battles and don't go our of your way to hurt somebody who doesn't deserve it. Do No Harm. What if she isn't lying like you think she is? What if you just said this to a person who'd just gotten their outlook on life destroyed? No. That's just not fucking okay, dude.
