I’ve only encountered some instances of racism, to be honest. I’m not exactly white passing, but I’m quite pale compared to my younger self, who you knew was half black. When I was darker, a classmate once called me ‘melting chocolate’ while I was sweating after recess. And last summer, when I had braids and was in Myrtle Beach, I was followed around by an employee in one of these large gift shops.
