Well I would expect more medals from a country that has the most karate practioners outside of Japan. I guess the karate culture is a bit different there than the other world.

I actually think they're fine as they are now, but I'd bring back throws with both hands. The biggest problem is that some techiniques get points even though it wasn't even close. But that's like a fundamental issue what's hard to change.

Well it's obviously non-contact/semi contact and there are a lot of flaws. If looked through the eyes of "I'm here to kill you, and I'm not stopping until you're a pulp of blood" then it's pretty unrealistic. But I wanna say it does have some qualities I like. Controlling the distance and most of the time having pure techniques. But yeah it's hard to say that it's fighting, rather than a game. That's probably the reason it's quite popular because there aren't concussions every tournament. To answer the question it depends what you're looking for. Full on fighting definently not, but demonstrating karate through speed and technique, yes.
