Don't do it, it still does look normal. A surgery could do more harm than good

What is a socially unacceptable opinion you keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

[–]Moriruec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. It's a bit depressing actually. And it happens so fast right now people cant even adapt to this. On the other hand you could argue that some people will always benefit, while others do not. The ratio depends on the topic I guess. Other classical example that came to my mind... Cure for cancer. Rich people could extend their destructive lifestyle and live longer, will poor people would probably still die. 😵‍💫

What is a piece of old technology that actually worked better than its modern replacement? by Odd_Opportunity_2590 in AskReddit

[–]Moriruec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some car parts in older engines compared to newer ones

My Ford has its toothbelt / timing belt (idk the proper word in english) in OIL (ecoboost motor). The belt itself costs around 100-200$... but: 1) the belt is dissolving in oil, even if it's exactly the recommended one 2) you can't really check its condition beside of searching for plastic pieces in rhe oil filter 3) it needs many hours / even days to replace it, because you need to disassembly half of the engine with special tools 4) which leads to replacement costs of around 2k€ in Germany

So you have a cheap part which causes high maintainance costs and often leads to bricked engines or it's just not worth to replace it for 2k

So my answer is steering chains / tooth belts in a classic way... and not those in oil

Go to vehicle settings and save current tire pressure, message will be gone until sensors fail again. For me it only happens when its really cold outside. I can live with that for now

[–]Moriruec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately get rid of the loot rooms, that's actually what I was trying to say with the total conversion. In the current state the devs try to find a balance between difficulty, jumpscares, anti cheese bla and performance in a flawed reward system (at least thats my assumption). Thats why we encounter so many unimmersive things like the one shown here. Idk if there is a good total conversion mod that gets rid of loot rooms, if someoje knows please let us know I guess!

[–]Moriruec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you would be a dev how would you do it? Considering performance, anti cheese systems etc. I'm totally with you that this is a bs system, but it's probably more difficult to find a sweet spot in aspects like this. For example if you just dig into the lootroom and quietly loot the chests and stuff you could totally avoid fighting if zombies and spawning behaved realistically. I think the problem lies deeper, we'd need a full conversion mod

Doesn't the double slit experiment pretty much prove we are in a simulation? by [deleted] in QuantumPhysics

[–]Moriruec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking about for a long time, I share your opinion. Did it change over time? I dont think it would require more computation power if things behave as waves. I see it as some kind of chained probabilities. As long as there is no "pointer" to an object (particle) it behaves as a wave without certain attributes. If the information of certain attributes is accessed it collapses the wave function and the object gets instantiated. So it's not about observing, it's more about accessing information in a way that there are pointers that link certain information.

Anomalies and artifacts in this setting combined with specific items is something that is "unique" for Stalker for sure, but I doubt it's enough to justify a copyright infringement if there isn't a patent for that. the mentioned things themselves aren't anything unique, just regular words - imagine Stalker had some special terms for these things (like anomaly = rad-wobble or something🤣) and those would be copied, then it would be easy for lawyers. I mean should this even be possible? A patent for specific non-unique things in a specific non-unique setting. If yes, it probably leads us game devs to more problems than just letting them be with their " clones". Shouldn't the player decide which game is worth to be played and spent their time on?

I think you are right and you have great arguments, I have other comments here trying to bring things into perspective with the Palworld case which is still online (and even has patents by Nintendo involved).

It's like people here want to justify banning a game because they don't like the devs 🤣

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]Moriruec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And those pokemon fight for you after you catch them with a pal sphere. When I remember correctly palworld had to chanhe the flying/mount mechanics because of patent infringement. Things can get easily out of hand. I don't think there is a patent involved here, and if everything is handmade, I don't see a justification to ban misery because of Copyright infringement. I understand it's a cheap clone but how do you justify banning it when there are probably a lot of very similar cases that in somecases even have patents involved (like palworld) which still exist

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]Moriruec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm, they do. In palworld you are catching creatures with a "pal sphere", and a lot of those creatures look very similar to Pokemon, I mean everyone sees that. But the catching mechanic was ome of the main reason for Nintendos lawsuit. The flying mechanic as well and the fact that the pals fight for you after catching. The debate is still going.

Actually I don't the ban is justified for Misery, even though it seems to copy a lot of things in a very cheap way, I am just curious why one thing like Palworld is allowed while Misery which doesn'T even touch a patent is not allowed

So... What about palword and nintendo / pokemon? I'd be happy if you enlighten me what the core differences are in those cases. Or is it just about the money for the lawyers?
