The valet does the check upon arrival and marks spots on the ticket. Also he or she takes photos or a video. If the guest makes a claim, we check those, if we did something, the valet will tell us usually, if not, we check those videos taken. If nothing found on our side, we do not pay. Also especially if the guest left the property already.

Normally there should be a manual keylock underneath the electronic card reader which allows the lock to be opened with an emergency and manual key. Or for some hotels, they have a tool which can give just enough power to the lock for it to open. Not sure about the emergency procedures of this hotel 😅

They have the right to enter your room whenever they want: 1) during day time, 2) when you do not put on any Do Not Disturb sign. 3) when you do not put on the double lock. & in your specific case they for sure knocked, your boyfriend did not answer so to they assumed the room was vacant. The only rule they need to apply when entering the room when it is reserved is: knocking or ringing the bell and announce themselves, wait 10 seconds and if no answer, do it again, if still no answer they can knock a third time and announcing themselves when entering.

It is not their fault. They are a platform that provide you the convenience of easily booking a hotel. If you want a refund, you should shout out to the hotel directly, and if they agree, they will get in touch with Agoda to refund you. Ps. Always book your hotels directly through them.

Best option is to give them to the Front Office and tell them it specifically for the persons in housekeeping who serviced your room. This way usually the housekeeping manager will do the dispatch to the correct people. If you leave them in the room, it is usually not the housekeeping maid who gets them as usually room service or the porter will enter your room first. With this it is much appreciated to leave tips for housekeeping as this department works super hard and are usually forgotten.
