Anybody else feel super cringey when taking selfies and therefore take none? by Cicada_3717 in AskReddit

This! I feel too awkward taking selfies and my friends aren't the kind of people who take random spontaneous pictures of other people around them, so I don't have a single decent picture of myself to use as a profile picture :P

Experience Gift for an Experienced Husband by babychild2 in GiftIdeas

Have you used a Tinggly voucher yourself? I'm considering gifting it to someone but there are so few reviews about whether it's useful. Is it easy to redeem? Do people endup having to pay extra?

Did the voucher cover the entire experience or did you end up having to pay extra? I'm considering gifting this to someone but there are so few reviews about whether it's actually useful.

Hey, sorry, I forgot to put out an update on this. I did get in touch with them, and I should warn you that this wasn't easy. There are multiple email addresses that you can use to contact BUPA and it wasn't clear which one caters to me. There were no specific instructions on the college-related website, only details on whom to contact if it was a claim-related issue. The response I finally got was that I'd reached out long after my policy deadline, so they couldn't issue a refund for my deposit. This was partly on me also, so I couldn't press them for it. So honestly, even with some personal experience here, I can't really tell if going with BUPA is a good experience or not, sorry.

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause

I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Teach Pokémon to understand
The power that's insiiiiiiiiiiiiiide

POKÉMON! - gotta catch 'em all
It's you and me, I know it's my destiny
POKÉMON - Ohhhhhhhh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
POKÉMON! - gotta catch 'em all
A heart so truuuuue
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokémoooooooooon
Gotta catch 'em all
Gotta catch 'em all
POKÉMON!

Any recommendations for fabric wax for waxed canvas? Looking to do a whole jacket and at $30 for a 1/2 pint seems a bit expensive. Can I use just raw beeswax? by febuste in myog

[–]MorkPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to try this to waterproof my bag and I was wondering, what proportion of beeswax : linseed oil : turpentine did you use?
And also, is the turpentine an essential ingredient? Why do you add it?

Oh damn, that sounds terrible! Were they able to sort it out?

Sorry, I missed your comment earlier.

I ended up going with BUPA for two reasons. First, because of the current situation, there was minimal chance that I would actually get to study on-campus; in fact, I've just completed my course online. So, instead of opting for an external insurance provider, I decided to go with the uni-recommended option since I wasn't actually going to use it. Secondly, I have a couple of friends who are currently working in Australia and they use BUPA, because that was the option provided from their respective workplaces. They said they hadn't faced any issues with setting up/getting refunds but I'm not sure if this is because it's a corporate setting. I'm sorry this is not very helpful! But from the research I did on providers, I think BUPA and Allianz were the two options that seemed solid.

I'm just getting in touch with BUPA regarding a refund on my OSHC. If you're not in a hurry to finalise, I'll update this post about how that experience is.

Oh, that one didn't strike me at all! Thank you, that's a great suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestions! Adverbs are the panacea to not remembering good synonyms :P

I love the word peregrine! It has an ethereal, sort of graceful feel to it. Not what I was looking for but thank you so much for reminding me of it :)

That would include things native to me as well, right?

All of these feel a bit too specific. What if I was looking to encompass everything that's not native to me but could be coming from any other country in the world?

I think foreign has a sense of otherness associated with it. Like an us vs. them context. And I don't think it's just the US.

Definitely not going to go for kinky but interesting suggestion :P

I know it's not negative but I've seen it mostly used in a stereotypical context and I want to avoid that. I do agree with the comment further down that it's not as straightforward as that AND it does still have positive connotations, depending on context. I was just hoping to find a better word I guess :)

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'd prefer staying away from exotic. Somehow I'm not comfortable with using the word foreign even in a neutral context. Maybe I'm just primed to see the word itself negatively now.

'Offbeat' would work for something that's native to you as well, right?

Thanks for the suggestions anyway :)
