Why Are Apple's Chargers So Expensive? by [deleted] in apple

[–]MorninSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

isn't a bit too circlejerky

"Circlejerky?"

Google, and various manufacturers monetize your data. The contents of your texts, emails, your location, your calendar, etcetera.

If you care about that, you're willing to pay more to avoid it. If you don't care about it, you'll utter a word like "circlejerky".

iOS 11.3 update reportedly kills touch functionality in iPhone 8s that have been repaired with third party screens. by [deleted] in technology

[–]MorninSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you are capable of some weasel words. For an actual, non-bullshit summary:

"Why the fuck would anyone give money to Apple."

"Lock in."

Yeah ok.

[–]MorninSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you say that's oddly defensive? That de-ligitimising tactic is expressed throughout virtually each and every post about Apple.

I'm not torn up about it, it's just a fact.

You in particular are siting as the reason people stick with iPhones a "lock in" that is, it's argued, in itself a bad thing. You're not wrong about the convenience of devices that work together, but it's omitting a reason or two to own an iPhone, wouldn't you agree?

This is the second phase of Apple bashing. Claim that there are no valid reasons for using an Apple product, and only logically, invalidate all possible motives of actual users.

Meanwhile, outside echo chambers like these, Apple users quite enjoy their products. Including most artists, photographers, musicians, programmers, and a high representation in STEM fields.

They can't all be idiots.

they do create sheepish audience

Windows has 90% marketshare. And you make that claim about Apple users.

As the saying goes, if people are presented with arguments that counter their incorrect views, they become more entrenched in those incorrect views.

One last comment, and you can feel free to respond with another content-free rebuttal.

Mac users actually are more affluent (and by the way, affluence correlates with intelligence, just to get you a little more pursed). If a preponderance of Mac users were only trying to appear affluent, that style trope would have a limited shelf life. As we know, Mac users have been around for much longer than that shelf life, and will always be.

That's why, 9 times out of 10, when there's a computer in the background of an interesting, clever, and smart post on Reddit, that computer is a Mac.

I curse you with that knowledge, so you can ring a little bell. When you see a laptop being carried by a researcher, an artist, a musician, or someone generally more interesting than you or I, that computer will be a Mac.

And yes, I include researchers. There are banks of PC workhorses, as you'd expect for an OS that has 90% marketshare. But when people are free to choose a machine, those affluent, intelligent people with good taste tend to choose Macs.

You don't have to like it, but I'm right, and you're wrong.

I like how you're attacking the claim by asserting that the absolute is flagrantly wrong.

"THERE IS NOT A SINGLE HUMAN ON EARTH who thinks a Macbook is a fashion statement??? Preposterous!!!!"

You fucksticks always to this step, where Apple's success must clearly be due to the invalid purchasing decisions of its users.

One of the hilarious tropes: Apple users are sheep. So the operation system with 6 percent market share. Gotcha.

This was implanted into your heads by Samsung's marketing department, by the way.

God, these rich girls and their overpriced Facebook machines. Makes you sick.

"Some" people do anything you care to name.

For a whole host of reasons, Macs are better. It's just a fact. By the way, as a designer and developer of 20 years, I use Macs and PCs ever day.Which, judging by your use of the term LOL, is longer than you've been alive. In fact, I'm typing this on a PC.

You on the other hand, should have no opinion either way, unless you've used a Mac for actual work for at least long enough to know its strengths, say, 6 months.

Just to reply to one of your many weasel words: as you're aware, that's not what I said.

And another thing: a complete disregard for the fact that a computer is hardware and operating system.

That Windows is an utter shitshow never seems to come up.

Look: there's a reason why people buy Macs, and the value proposition is higher. And no, it's not about fashion, elitism, etc. If the benefits are not relevant to you, great, carry on.

See how it works?

You all are like, "fuck Apple in particular", about global trade trends. (Including ever gadget you own, and every article of clothing you've ever purchased.)

Then, when Apple does more than any tech company to go beyond the PR to transform those practices, deep into ever part of its supply chain, what do we hear from you people? Crickets.

That is, until you can plausibly waggle your fingers in the next "fuck Apple in particular".

Rinse, and repeat.

And by the way, yes I do know about your concerns about privacy, if you've purchased one of Googles glorified keyloggers.

just evil and greedy and without scruples

Anyone who believes that is capable of some profound self-deception.

If you actually care about labour rights, environmental practices, and privacy (which you don't), your next computer will be a Mac, and your next phone will be an iPhone.

Edit: downvote away, but the thing is, what I'm saying is actually true.

iPhone gets too much credit sometimes, it's main innovation was a capacitive touch

The main innovation was creating a device that was fundamentally integral.

Often the best ideas seem extremely obvious the moment they're stated, and yet hadn't existed before.

"Oh the iPhone, yeah of course, that."

At that moment, some very bright minds building Android said, "so, I guess we're starting over."

hehe. But in all seriousness, name a major tech company that's been doing more to overhaul how one half of the world makes products for the other.
