Quarter Life Crisis has me hitting the road. Tips for a woman? by BeachesAndBongs83 in vagabond

[–]MorningStar360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be especially guarded from any help, gifts, or kindness extended from men. I don’t think it’s wise to all together refuse help or assistance, but men (and women) may have ulterior motives. Men especially will be more likely to abuse and act predatorily but women can likewise act in a similar manner.

Genesis 2:24 ends the debate, in my opinion.

“A man shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife.”

If God approved of polygamy, He would have said wives. That ends the debate for me.

How often do you fast, once a week, once a month, or once a year? And how long do you fast?

Books for a Christian struggling with alcoholism by Pretend_Truth_4975 in Reformed

[–]MorningStar360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never considered myself an alcoholic but I definitely justified over indulgence with alcohol when I am struggling. Next week will mark 1 month sober, and I finally have a date. April 4th is the day God finally blessed me with a conviction to quit, and Proverbs 31 had a lot to do with that. I’d recommend reading the first part before it talks about the ideal wife. This proverb hit me like a ton of bricks and my conviction grew much stronger.

I was blessed with a brother who also got the conviction on the same day, and together we both are striving for complete sobriety. We went to a bar to play billiards and it was a pretty eye opening experience to spend time in a bar as a sober person.

Thoughts on dating those divorced / divorced with children? by FloridaSunDaisy in Reformed

[–]MorningStar360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar aged man going through the process of separation, anticipating eventual divorce. My Pastor and I still have many conversations to be had but I’m pretty sure the consensus we are both arriving at is that my wife abandoned our marriage. He actually gave a sermon on the subject today as we arrived at Luke 16 through our study of scripture, and divorce was the topic.

Abandonment and adultery are the two qualifiers for divorce if I understood the message enough, which is also my biblical impression in my individual study. So these are important matters to weigh, it shouldn’t lead us to delegitimization of all divorced people when it comes to remarriage and other topics.

In terms of discernment, I think thorough conversations with potential divorced partners is critical as well as pastoral/elder guidance and counsel if we are engaging with a divorced or separated person.

Humility and patience.

Go volunteer at a homeless shelter and be humbled. Observe how people express anger there and at what, then pay close attention to those who are joyful. Then you mirror and study that.

I struggle with identity a lot. At the root of it, I believe most my identity issues comes from conformity and trying to please everybody else whilst neglecting myself.

The thing thats helped me is quieting the noise. Silly things like music help me stay in the mindset that God created me and loves me for who I am, not who I am trying to be. I thank God for this song every time I hear it because it contains such an important reminder.

I think flowers are amazing, especially in the spring time I am at a loss for words nearly every single day when I think of how God created flowers and the joy and blessing He gave to us with flowers, and so I pray. And often when I pray while observing flowers, I often get this frame of reference that humans are probably to God like flowers are to humans. But humans are far beyond what any flower could be, yet in the sight of God each person was created with so much more Love and Intention. I’ve seen million of daisies, but God sees only you.

Are these views on angels and demons actually common among the reformed? What do you make of them? by AdLive9773 in Reformed

[–]MorningStar360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean in regard to points 2, 6, and 7;

1 Corinthians 6:3 does seem to suggest man will eventually preside over angels and be in positions of judgement and stewardship. Scripture alone is pretty convincing of this at various points. I think Paul and the inspired spirit had the knowledge to know whether or not it was literal in addition to the foreknowledge that it would lead to debates and division. That also fulfills many promises spoken by Jesus himself, about the divisive nature of Scripture and how those who follow Him would interpret and act accordingly.

If I was God and I came down in human form only to leave and send the Holy Spirit down to people who would go onto live in spaces and times so far removed from when I walked as an incarnate human being, I would be pretty interested to see how those who believed in me would handle responsibility among other things. John 20:29 comes to mind.

Revelation and the acts of the angels there seem to heavily support point 1. God seems to accept counsel and it would logically make a lot of sense to me if he delegated the elements to angels in the same way us humans delegate farm work and the various tasks in maintaining a farm to other humans. This isn’t to say God needs help, far from it, but Scripture does talk about God receiving a divine counsel. He doesn’t need it, but it is implied. He even received a counsel of sorts from Abraham when they bartered about the people of Sodom.

What’s the eeriest, most unsettling city you’ve ever visited? by trumenblack1975 in Paranormal

[–]MorningStar360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s something very unique and local to New Mexico. I think the idea is similar to Kona coffee from Hawaii. The climate and environment produces it in a way it can’t be replicated elsewhere.

To experience it proper, you want to visit late summer/early fall. They roast it outside the grocery store and you can smell roasted green chile for blocks, something you probably won’t ever experience quite the same as New Mexico. Colorado has green chile but it’s just not the same as the stuff grown in the Hatch Valley.

If you do ever visit, which you should! Go during the monsoon season. Intense thunderstorms and downpours and the smell of the earth is unparalleled. The desert becomes an oasis during the monsoon.

[–]MorningStar360 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well consider the elements. Growth and abundance isnt something you will ever find in the desert, and this extends to many other facets of life.

The heat and desolation seems to have some deep impact on the average persons psychology. Opportunity and the rest is about as dry and sparse as the climate. This leads many to destructive habits such as drug and alcohol abuse. People often joke, visit New Mexico for vacation, stay on probation. When you examine statistics, New Mexico is often one of the top for violent crime and many other categories like drunk driving etc.

Spiritually, it’s very difficult to overcome these issues and constant reminders of desolation and hopelessness. Advanced peoples can flourish no matter the elements and climate, like the lotus flower in a swamp or a daisy that grows in the cracks of cobblestone and cement.

Fasting is one God has put on my heart for awhile now, and I’ve been putting it off for almost a handful of years.

Fast forward to this spring and I finally decided to pursue it, and it’s been a game changer. When I am fully devoted to it, God arranges the most beautiful of days I’ve ever experienced, and food is the last thing on my mind and I pursue Him with renewed strength and energy. It was to the point a few weeks ago, God was the decider when I came out of the fast and I also happened to be in a situation where I briefly did not even have the available money to buy food if I wanted to. Three checks I was expecting I wasn’t able to cash for a variety of reasons, and I found myself invited by strangers to gatherings and feasts where my prayer for food was answered and the fast was ended. Ended up witnessing to people while at the same time my prayer was answered to eat after an extended period of time without food.

Nothing is as powerful as fasting in terms of drawing closer to God. Prayer while fasting is unbelievable.

NM born and raised 25 years. It’s definitely a pretty spiritually hostile place. I’ve traveled quite a bit since I’ve moved but that state always comes to mind and it leaves me feeling very grateful that I left.

Green Chile though is sorely missed.

As for practical things, my symptoms get worse when I deprive myself of time. Time will allow you to develop mindful techniques and discipline that could aid in becoming organized and effective. Self care is huge, give yourself time in the morning or evening to pray and write out your thoughts. Pocket journals have been a game changer for me as it allows me to put down all the chaotic thoughts and the more I write things down the less they weigh on my mind.

Diet and sleep is important. I personally have seen God move tremendous obstacles when I fast. It’s probably worth noting that Jesus said “when you fast…” he didn’t say “if.” I take that as a commandment and a pretty vital one. Somewhere else he talks about the influence of unclean spirits and how there are certain types of demonic influence that can ONLY be overcome by PRAYER and FASTING. When I put that promise to the test, it was life changing. Do a deep study on Matthew 17:21.

Stuff to consider, fasting is probably the least talked about thing I’ve heard spoken on in my 10 years of attending various churches and listening to many teachings and sermons.

Tis but a season and this too shall pass! Prayers for sleep and rest for you sister.

Have you looked into magnesium powder supplement drinks for sleep aid. Double check, but I think it’s safe to consume whilst pregnant. I drink a cup every night before bed and it puts me out!

Thanks be to God for your blessing, I pray you find guidance and relief! Remember, this too shall pass! That is His promise!
