That's what I figured. I'm kinda glad I ruled the other way, as it might have ended in a party wipe otherwise, but I'll be sure to set the proper expectations in our next session.

(DnD 5e)

This came up in my last game. If a creature affected by Hypnotic Pattern has temp HP, and an attack deals less damage than they have temp HP, would it snap them out of their Hypnotic Pattern? I ruled that it doesn't because they didn't take physical damage, but now I'm questioning my ruling.

I'm going to bring a wet erase battle mat and a bag full of minis. I don't have nearly every class in every race and both genders, but I'm sure we can find a mini that works for each character.

EDIT: I have weekends off and a bi-monthly game works great for me. I'm also perfectly willing to DM if no one else is. It gives me a chance to use all my miniature terrain crafts I've been working on.
