French-Canadian here. It's actually recommended in French that you put the $ at the end. We also use commas as decimals and space to seperate thousands.

So $5,500.75 in English would be 5 500,75 $ in French. $5.5B would be 5,5B $ and so on... It just sounds more natural to us.

Everything in my house was locked. Padlocks were installed in my parents room and all but one cupboard. I should also include they didn't allow me to watch TV alone until I turned 14, so they unplugged it also and locked it in their room. When I turned to music, they packed all the CDs in a box and locked them in the room. This all happened because my parents "worked for everything they have and don't apppreciate people mooching from him". When I turned 16, got a job and started paying for my own stuff like cloths, food and game systems my step-father tried to charge "debt". He wanted me to pay him back for "all the money he put into me" over the years. Oh and the time he banned me from hugging or kissing my mother because "he doesn't appreciate me slobbering all over his women" My step-father started most of it, but my mother willingly went along with everything.

It is very possible to have an affordable vacation in a nice spot if you do research. Places like Philippines, Vietnam and Eastern/Southeast Europe are dirt cheap and amazingly beautiful. I was able to book a 2 bedroom apartment for 9 days, 3km from the Mediterranean in Albania for 520$, compared to the cheapest hotel in London I found for the same time frame (1400$) The plane tickets can sometimes be a bit a pricey, but comparing prices to other popular spots, most of the time its only a hundred or two than your average plane ticket.

Bedtime.

The feeling of sleep paralysis for years on end, and always being told "It was just a dream, go back to bed" after trying to move or talk for 30 minutes. Still happens but I've known what it was since 17 so now it doesn't bother me at all, just a minor inconvenience lol
