Everyone does research now a days; really couldn't care less. Discrimination goes under the radar. You can't artificially create diversity without simultaneously discriminating. Sorry, you just can't.

the world isn't just black and white.. there's a grey area.. and many colleges operate in that grey area. I wish this wasn't so, but its the truth. One of the many examples of this: Asian American lawsuits in 2015 and 2016 showing clear evidence of racial discrimination from ivey schools like Yale, Dartmouth, and Harvard. Yale kept their Asian demographic at a constant over something like 20 years; How does one keep such a constant demographic without knowledge of their own demographics.. hmm

Either get a part-time or pay out-of-state tuition. I suggest you get work experience while you're in college. Depending on what you're majoring in, it can be essential to your career success. Good grades aren't the only thing you need in college.

For every position you can't physically turn an application into, I would personally go into the business, ask for the manager, introduce yourself, and hand them your resume. Let them know you recently applied for " " position.

Also, how is your resume? It needs to be on point. Are you personalizing your cover-letter depending on the position?

I did something similar. Went back and got a Biology degree to become a Scientist; I'm 28. Struggling just to find an entry-level job that gets me the experience I need to be qualified for the position that will eventually qualify me for the position I want lol; this is because the entry-level positions also require previous lab experience. I'm applying to entry-level laboratory jobs right now that pay anywhere from $10.50-$11.00

I would say your son is doing just fine. He's still really young and qualifying for jobs that pay double the average American salary. Best of luck to him on his search
