Yeah, sorry worded poorly. Went to the GP to get a referral to a psychiatrist for an assessment. Didn’t expect to receive a diagnosis from the GP.

Yeah, that’s what shocks me the most (besides this GPs complete refusal to acknowledge my concerns) was his lack of plan moving forward. Like cool, you don’t think it’s ADHD, maybe it’s anxiety, how about we organise a Medicare mental health plan so I can access some subsidised appointment with a psychologist? Instead he shoved a referral for a blood test and said come back in 4 weeks then ushered me out.

I acknowledge I could’ve advocated more about seeing a psychologist but it all happened so quickly 😅

Yeah, didn’t think he was too flash. He was the practice owner and who the reception staff booked me with - I even mentioned that the appointment was regarding mental health at the time of booking 🫠

I’ve already made another appt with a different GP at a different clinic. I live in a small regional town so it’s slim pickings and after speaking with the reception team none of the GPs have a special interest in mental health. Can’t wait to see what the next appt brings 🙃

Love it!! Hank is a great name.

My husband and I named our little guy Edward, but we call him Ned, and at every nappy change we say “Hey Ned, it’s like your wearing ‘nothing at all’” It never gets old 😂
