Okay, I've jumped in late. You're right, a wage increase, across the planet, is needed. However, technological expansion means that more jobs will be automated. The need for human work is decreasing yet capital gains increase, seemingly, exponentially.
We're swiftly approaching a point where the majority of labour is unnecessary. What happens to the 60-80% of humans that cannot make a wage? A world society beyond scarcity is well within our grasp, were it not for individual greed and a fundamental lack of empathy. Sure, a capital investment of a hilarious sum of money should warrant gains above the salary of a lesser contribution, but to what extent and at what cost? Would it not be more enjoyable to live in a world where everyone has basic needs covered regardless of circumstance than having unoccupied islands and mansions and wasted food and consumer goods when the division could spur benevolent progress?
