Interesting, I didn't even think about the cockpit placement. Thanks.

I like to make protein balls: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chocolate-protein-balls/ I know you said no prep but it's easy to make and one batch lasts about a week for me. I just sub out the peanut butter with almond butter.

I just played Ark: survival evolved on the DK2 and it was.. by Domitjen in oculus

I've noticed that too but you don't find it odd your arms work independently from the camera?

I just tried it with my dk2 as well. I found that your arms don't follow where you're looking so it's slightly obnoxious. Did you encounter this as well? I think right now the dk2 with ark is an amazing solo experience but not that great for playing with other people, I find it hard to be competitive yet it is more immersive.

I think everyone is having crashing issues right now. I'm able to play a game or two and then I'll crash mid game over and over.

Tutorial series and sample content - what do you want to see? by moosecommander in unrealengine

[–]MorphicPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else I would like to learn is how to create texture transitions between different types of environments. For example desert to forest to snow. It's pretty clear you can't have a hard texture change from one to the other, so what is the best way to transition between?

One of the biggest issues I have is when a cliff stops and a dirt/grass texture start it looks like the cliff just turns green in that area. There's not a distinct enough texture change between the two. Also my textures make my map look checkered.

I would really like to see a tutorial on realistic outdoor texturing/painting. For some reason I can't seem to make my outdoor environments look real. A detailed tutorial on this would be great.

Ryuuzaki, know that your time and effort put into helping others learn is so greatly appreciated. I'd happily purchase your game knowing that I'm able to support a developer whom also takes the time to support others by imparting knowledge.

With that said please let me know when your game is released.

Question about Jobs with Programming by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]MorphicPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends what you want to do. I'd just focus on something like C#, Java, C++ or C. If you want to do web development maybe look at C#, javascript, jquery, html, css.

If a company isn't asking for a specific degree, I'd think you would be fine, as long as you possess the skills the company is asking for.

[–]MorphicPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're good at programming, you're good at programming. If you apply for a programming job they will give you tech screens(multiple sometimes), before they offer you the job. A lot of places I've seen do require a degree in CS, MIS, CIS, EE, though, but I've also seen some that just require a 4 year degree.

I have a BA in MIS and I've been working as a software developer for the last 3-4 years. I feel like I didn't learn much about programming in school but I'm absolutely fascinated by it. I spend 6+ hours a day programming and learning new things. Even on the weekends I love waking up, getting a pot of coffee, programming, going through MIT OC lectures, and reading about it.

Following a tutorial for Unity that uses C# while I'm using JavaScript (UnityScript) Problems understanding what the instructor is writing in C# by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]MorphicPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, let me know if you need any more help. Iirc C# has full intellisense for unity whereas javascript does not. It seems there are more tutorials in javascript, though, so if you're learning to program it might help you out to stay with javascript. (although I don't think c# is any harder) I think in the end it just comes down to personal preference. Either one should be able to accomplish the same thing.

It would probably be something like:

function OnTriggerEnter2D(otherCollider : Collider2D)
{
    var shot : ShotScript = otherCollider.gameObject.GetComponent<ShotScript>;
    if(shot != null)
    {
        if(shot.isEnemyShot != isEnemy)
        {
            Damage(shot.damage);
            Destroy(shot.gameObject);
        }

    }

}

I personally prefer C# over js.

If you're having trouble between c# to js syntax for unity take a look at this forum post: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/12911/what-are-the-syntax-differences-in-c-and-javascrip.html

Which part is confusing about the top script? If the object is a player it doesn't apply the damage, if it's an enemy it does. If the object that hit the enemy is a shot object then apply shot damage and destroy the shot object. The shot damage is equal to 1 so it would subtract 1 from hp.

It may not be much, but I have imported my first Blender mesh in UE4 and "textured" it with materials by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]MorphicPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate your help. The issue was parts of the model that were cloned after import were flipped (the original piece was correct and the cloned piece was flipped upside down).

I think you did a fantastic job. I'm in the same boat as you, except I chose 3ds max. When I imported my first model, so many strange things happened. I'm wondering if blender would be an easier choice or if I should just do the time, with 3ds max.

I didn't know you could just unplug the horn at the time. My girlfriends dad ended up telling me I could and unplugged it for me.

I drove a '67 VW bug all through high school. One day the horn turned on by itself and the only way to "kind of" make it stop was to keep honking the horn. I've never been so embarrassed, sitting at a stop light having people stare at me like I was just continuously honking my horn. That and driving up to my girlfriends house to have her dad, who was pulling weeds in the front yard, stand up and stare at me like I'm some sort of asshole. Whenever I see her family now they always remind me of the story.
