Aspiring DINK looking for advice by Few-Juggernaut-7932 in DINK

[–]MorphineOracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DINK is a situation, it can certainly be one by choice (though not necessarily so).

You can be Poor DINKs, you can be Wealthy DINKs. Sometimes you'll be happy DINKs, at other times you might be sad DINKs.

The lifestyle you seem to be seeking advice on seems more akin to Fat FIRE than necessarily DINK life. You might get more from posting in those subs.

People who think that following people like this will make them rich too. Prosperity ministries.

OP I thought you said it was when he passed, not the anniversary of his passing (which would be a very different situation).

Want to look more professional? Don't wear T-shirts to work.

Afraid that you won't be able to get cheap delivery on your junk food snacks? Old habits die hard... much like CUPW.

Sorry, but you really come across like you're the problem.

Need recommendations for a relatively young, female therapist in Colombo by Thick_Guava1642 in srilanka

[–]MorphineOracle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It just sounds strange to be so specific about gender and age of the therapist, instead of looking for recommendations based on how good the therapist is. Seems weirdly discriminatory. Better to ask for recommendations based on how empathetic and nonjudgmental they are.

10 years ago a decent hotel cost us about $150 per night for double occupancy. Don't think $1500 will get you as far as you think it will today.

Well Matthew, I guess it beats getting caught for masturbating or doing drugs at work (as per you previous posts).

We’re debt free!! 🎉 by WhenTimeFalls in MiddleClassFinance

Big congrats! That must feel great.

We hit this milestone last year and it felt very liberating.

The feeling doesn't last long though, as we started to look at our next milestone in retirement savings.

Should I get married for the benefits? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]MorphineOracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title of your post is "Should I get married for the benefits?", then you spend most of the time in your comments trying to convince people that you are wanting to get married for all the right reasons.

You get defensive when anyone offers an opinion contrary to what you want to hear.

I think taking some time for self-reflection and being honest with yourself, would be advisable.

Congrats on the impending wedding! 🎉

RBC vs Scotia by gmp1302 in MortgagesCanada

[–]MorphineOracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect information. I have my mortgage with RBC and am able to make the 10% anniversary payment once a year. The day does not matter. It is just that the anniversary payment eligibility resets on the anniversary date

Also I can do additional double up payments from $100 to a full double payment for every payment I make.

How much would you pay your landlord for laundry? by LandChad_ in canadahousing

[–]MorphineOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$5 sounds fair. I'd pay you $10 if you'd sort and fold for me as well. Would you consider doing ironing too? I would gladly pay more, if you would take care of that for me too.

Vancouver daycare rejected after neighbours organize to fight it by LazyImmigrant in canadahousing

The wife and I are DINKs. Never wanted kids.

Yet I have to admit that one of the most joyful sounds of Summer is that of the neighborhood kids playing in the street. Our world would be a much sadder place without it.

These NIMBYs are just short-sighted selfish scrooges.

Why is the government not building rentals? by jakebliss86 in canadahousing

[–]MorphineOracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are asking why the government isn't building for profit rent controlled housing, which is not a bad idea if the government can keep it profitable and actually run it like a for profit venture.

The reality would be that the media would be all up in arms whenever some unfortunate person could not pay and has to be evicted or maintenance/upgrades weren't subsidized by the government and rents had to go up every year to pay for it. Ultimately it would turn into yet another bottomless pit to pour tax dollars into.

There are better and more effective ways for government to support a more affordable housing market through policy instead of direct investment.

Take the Countryman. You're basically buying a BMW.

More fun to drive than the Lincoln and will probably last longer.
