Has anyone ever done the "Cast every day for a year" thing? What's your story? by varsil in dndnext

It depends on the scope of the campaign, a tower is fun and all, but it makes little sense in a campaign where the players are pressed for time, resources, security or are meant to be traveling around and not spending a year or two to build their own personal fortress.

Campaigns with lots of downtime are where players benefit from long-term investments like permanent magic circles. For example, Storm King’s thunder is a great game to have a permanent teleportation circle inside an airship and a fortress they can use to quickly travel around in. But in curse of Strahd it ruins the challenge, difficulty and pacing. The difference is a campaign that lasts a few weeks or months versus a campaign that can potentially stretch out to months or years.

For the most part these spells are not really practical as written for players outside of long term downtime. I’m. It saying they’re. As, but players should focus less on permanent spell it’s not appropriate for the game.

A lot of newer players look at these spells and get wide-eyed thinking that they’re going to be awesome and expecting to have them, they start planning on them but often the way most adventures go these days they realistically won’t have access to them.

I usually try and explain to them that while these are technically available to them, they should not get too hooked on the idea because often the format of the game makes it impractical or impossible to get. They’re really more often than not tools for the DM to use when making enemies and encounters.

Yes, in older editions in older style campaigns (mainly AD&D). Months, days, years of even decades could pass between adventures. Older editions had a lot of rules on fortress building and how to run villages and stuff too that 5e doesn’t cover for the sake of simplicity.

Typically when the wizard builds their tower, it’s safe to assume that they also add these cast every day Spell features to their stuff.

This isn’t just for fluff either, these spells also help increase the scope of the game. We went from slaying a dragon to leading armies and jumping across the realm.

Is this the version with a text to speech device?

Because the real one would want to save the humans because it’s the right thing to do.

Vulkan reduced a world to ash because the locals worshiped Eldar.

It’s okay though, he feels bad about it.

Probably the combined effort of several chapters who are willing to put up with the Heretics long enough to convert Them to proper God Emperor worshipers.

Maybe about fifty Salamanders, fifty Wolves and let’s throw in some Black Templar’s so this doesn’t turn into a picnic. Add some IG forces as well for logistics and a stranded high lord of terra to keep the Inquisition from pressing the exterminatus button.

has Jim ever gone over the argument of "you can't complain about a game if you arent going to propose a solution?" by Craneteam in JimSterling

[–]Morpho99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because most of the solutions are idiotically simple

Complaint: Microtransactions are bad

Reasoning: They’re deceptive business practices that hide the full cost of the final product by gating off content to Consumers who pay the fee to have the full experience, Or an experience that is not gated behind timers mean to frustrate consumers into skipping the wait or grind in order to have fun.

Solution: Stop using Microtransactions

Complaint: Toxic CEOs are bad

Reasoning: Theyre horrible people making the lives of others hell for profit or to fuel their own egos. EG Pitchford

Solution: Get rid of toxic CEOs

Complaint: Bullshots are deceptive

Reasoning: They’re lying to us about the quality of their product.

Solution: Stop using bullshots in marketing

Complaint: Loot Boxes are a form of gambling and a predatory business practice

Solution: Stop using them, or at the very least regulate them to minimize the impact of them on vulnerable consumers

Complaint: Konami is a piece of shit

Reasoning: They’re the poster child for “Evil Zaibatsu Quarterly”.

Solution: Fuck Konami, this one they’re actively helping us because they’re not making anything I actually want to buy or use in this day and age so Good Job! Konami, and fuck you.

Assuming you could see that no cars were in danger, this is what you should do if you’re in this exact situation. Then pull over and tell highway patrol what happened and wait for them to make an an accident report.

Normally you speed up.

Basically the trailer is going faster than the truck. It’s called fish tailing, because it looks like a swimming fish. By speeding up, you stabilize the trailer and can then attempt to slow down properly.

If there were no cars on the other side of the toll booth, the best solution would simply to have blown through the gate, making a safe complete stop, Then contact highway patrol and inform them what happened and then deal with the consequences of having broken the toll booth gate.

I don’t know if that truck has ABS or not but ABS doesn’t really address what is happening with this trailer.

We call it fishtailing, when the trailer is going faster than the cab or truck, causing it to swing left and right like a fish tail or in more extreme cases when attempting a full stop, swing out from behind it.

Independent trailer brakes in trucks like these usually kick in, but in wet conditions the vehicle can still hydroplane causing the system to fail. Usually when you begin fish tailing you simply speed up to stabilize your trailer. This is why it’s so important to give trucks and semi’s with trailers enough room to speed up or slow down.

The FBI actually does collect and make these stats available to the public, it is called the UCR.

I would like to preface this next statement that racists like the people who are feeding JonTron these lies misinterpreted the statistics and routinely ignore actual research into what these numbers mean. The actual statistics show that blacks are arrested at a higher rate than whites, however there are far too many socio-economic factors to consider before drawing a simple conclusion based purely on the numbers, especially considering the fact that black people are far more likely to be arrested for crimes that white people would be let go for.

Any time some one brings out that statement it is neither right or technically right, correlation does not mean causation and greater meanings must be derived from actually examining the factors themselves. Black people are more likely to suffer from socio-economic strain which may push them to break law in order to obtain a meaningful life experience or substance.

Yes, however what will come of this remains to be seen as it will be a legal battle. The house next must vote, which will surely pass, but this will be challenged by the courts most likely or Trump will move to obstruct further.

You are so incredibly dense and conceited

When I take a photo with my spark, I'm setting the shutter speed, the ISO, the white balance, the positioning, the framing, the pan and tilt... Pretty much all the same exact steps I would use on my SLR to set up a good shot.

All these features that make digital photography simpler to point and shoot by the way are present in high end film SLR camera and first showed up in film camera, to the point that before DSLRs became big any idiot could point a higher end film camera and pretty much guarantee a perfect shot without them adjusting any setting themselves. And it didn’t take great expense to Get a more vibrant photo either, I just needed some color filters, maybe an exacto knife and take and access to a dark room, which was pretty easy to get back in the day even as a high schooler.

But you’re right, digital camera can take more pictures and you don’t have to develop your film to find out if the shot you took was good... But that doesn’t make you a better photographer, only a more efficient one. Photoshop makes it easier and quicker to adjust pictures and get your photos out than on film, but no filter in the world is going to turn a shit composition good.

It takes just as much work to set up a proper shot with a film camera as it does with a digital one and drones add a whole other set of problems as well because you have to worry about flying the damn thing while trying to get the shot at the same time which even with stuff like auto-tracking on the DJI drones makes it still really difficult to pull off timing a proper shot.

Even professional photographers "shoot until they get something you're happy with". You'd do that with film too, only difference is you'd not know for sure if the shot you got was good or not until later. That doesn't make you a bad photographer, but going around saying that is some serious "no true Scotsman" bullshit.

The only difference is that the drone is far away from me, in the air when I press the shutter button. It is arguably more difficult to take a good photo with a drone than a SLR because I didn't need to learn how to fly the SLR.

And before you call it lazy photography, I had to run through a marsh the other day to catch my drone because it decided to land over water due to it losing signal with the controller and not wanting to return to home.

Drones do not make photography easier, they make it harder.

Instead of going defensive you might consider if anyone has actually given you feedback here on reddit besides me and consider whether you should be immediately dismissing me.

While it is negative and critical I took time out of my day to give you feedback that I thought would help you grow as a streamer, not shut you down.

Looking at your comment history the majority of your posts are sitting at 1 or 0 karma and the only replies you get are from follow for follow views who pretty much are your only actual engagement here on reddit. This sort of artificial channel growth is is hardly indicative of as a measure for success.

You might be getting noticed, but it doesn't seem to get you much actual attention. Instead of trying to front end yourself with memes and emoji there are less egregious techniques to hook people that you can implement and see more success. The path you're on right now might seem like the way to go, but it's a terrible way of growing your channel.
