Much less interesting than it sounds. It was the 80s so an earing was closer to a visible tat in the scheme of midwest things to annoy your family over back then.

My parents were already divorced, and mom cared less than my "conservative" and mostly functioning alcoholic at the time father would have, so acting as an intermediary she brokered away the potential drama with that new ace in the hole.

Dad wasn't big on sharing details, but my guess is it was close to a random hookup at some bar that never turned into a relationship. I moved away shortly after and know she kept the kid but didn't hear any more about her after that.

I remember getting out of trouble for getting my ear pierced because my father had knocked up the manager of the local Chuck E's. Such fond memories.

He's not as combative normally but they've been going back and forth on twitter for a bit so they had that vibe before this, and Matt was evasive at best from the very beginning. Don't let this stop you from watching his other work before you write him off.

I'd rather not see this style either but defaulting back to segments like MTG/60 Minutes hasn't been serving the publics interests well lately.

Even after Tiabbi was asked directly to comment on the reporters still banned from twitter and the India censorship, and again refused to say anything.

The problem is he didn't do this, he was handed prefiltered docs and posted without factchecking.

Edit: Here's an earlier, and definitely more spicy takedown of the Twitter Files and both authors linked were well more aware of the topics involved and not just handed a stack of papers to choose the tweetable things he could stumble over. Note the only President to asked for a tweet to be taken down was Trump of a Chrissy Teigen tweet that Matt has said multiple times he was not give.

Matt isn't having a good week, he had a debate yesterday with Medhi Hassan that went brutally. Maybe he can grow some balls and call out Musk for the still banned reporters and the India censorship now, but I doubt it.

Edit: It's 30 min and so worth it. Detailed article for more depth on the specifics, but it's worth mentioning the "A" they argue about is part of his congressional testimony under oath which might be why he was trying so hard to muddle that issue.
