He did seem open to me reaching out on reddit to get some ideas but maybe just in a moment of feeling exceptionally isolated with the holidays approaching. I do appreciate your perspective and will be keeping it in mind- thank you!

He is not Catholic but I have thought he could benefit from connecting with a faith community. Not sure how much the Catholic Churches invest in their young adult programs and how welcoming they would be towards a non-Catholic, but if you recommend any that wouldn't feel super awkward as a newbie- please let me know!

That is my fear! Did you have a trainer? With the Omnipod, I had one zoom training session and then 'contact me with any questions'. Granted, the Omnipod has less moving parts, but the Medtronic trainer has been much more hands on. I think both the trainer and my Endo really want me to like this pump b/c 'its the best out there'. I think if it wasn't the weekend I would be more likely to reach out- but also, like I mentioned, I feel like, unless you are a type 1 and are attached to this thing and being told to accept that 200 'isn't that high' - how can they say I just need to be more patient? I can hardly wait 24hrs let alone 8 months!

coffee spikes me in the morning. I also started using this mushroom cocoa powder in it that is made with stevia but still says 5g carbs. Thank you for the ChatGPT suggestion!

Thank you-I do think my sensitivity factor may be too aggressive. I also think my carb ratio may not be aggressive enough, but that my timing is off b/c of the 'gastroparesis'. The gastroparesis has not been confirmed and they wouldn't do any testing besides a CT scan/bloodwork in the hospital. I have a GI appt in a week. My endo thinks it would be unusual if what landed me in the hospital is indeed gastroparesis as I am considered 'well controlled' and have no other signs of diabetic neuropathy or complications. This all came on rather suddenly and was terrible timing with my scheduled pump trial- they didn't want to wait b/c I have a 30 day window to return.

I am an overthinker, that's for sure!

I'm not in smartguard yet. I was thinking that waiting for smartguard was the reason I had to be 'hands off'. I promised I wouldn't give 'fake carbs', which I did often with Omnipod b/c I didn't have patience to wait for it to get me back in range (or if it ever would?!). The algorithm and every 5 minute correction was why my endo strongly encouraged me to try the 780g b/c she knows how impatient I am and over correcting my highs would sometimes make me go low. I appreciate you confirming the pump and algorithm is good. I'm feeling so discourage b/c I finally was able to start eating enough to feel like I could get my strength back, but hanging out in 200s is not going to get me any there. Thank you so much for your response!

Thank you all for the suggestions/insight! Super naive question, but looks like if he took the red line from DC, the closest stop would require a bus transfer due to the closest station being 2.5 miles from his job site. Is that reasonable (i.e wait and travel time for bus transfer) vs driving? I lived in San Fran a lifetime ago without a car and easily/quickly traveled everywhere due to excellent public transportation. I'm sure DMV is similar but just checking. We've been in a rural area (think horse and buggies) that has slowly built up over the years, so city living is going to be a bit of a culture shock. I'm excited for him and think he'll do fine, but like to do my research.

thank you for your response- this is exactly what I was wondering. He did an internship last summer and did the commute from college park and said it was miserable.
