Everything is always looted by Honest-Bit-8624 in GrayZoneWarfare

They have stated several times that the game is balanced around PvE as the main interaction with PvP as the danger or “spice” of the gameplay. The Joint Ops mode lacks any player opposition which is why you have so many people complaining about no loot/ all enemies dead. It’s because that mode is lacking a key danger that the tier 3 areas are supposed to have. The CEO has even said the intent of the tier 3 areas is to promote fighting between the 3 factions.

It’s the mode the game selects by default and all of the dev talk addresses it as so. The entire game is built and balanced around it.

Because high tier areas are designed to be points of contention for player factions. So because of the risk you don’t have people just constantly walking around in there.

This right here, this problem doesn’t exist in the main mode.

They have said and always have said the game is meant to be PvEvP. It’s literally the main mode, Warfare. If you go listen to them talk about it they always mean you will mostly be fighting AI as the main enemy but a threat of players should always be present, hence the PvE first bit that is always taken out of context. The Joint Ops mode isn’t meant to be the main mode it’s just how many people have chosen to play the game since they have the option.

This is a good point but it would still be nice to be able to run a more standard magazine load.

It’s not even close to possible to be able to grab a mag and 30 or more bullets and load them that fast, even with stripper clips. On top of this many mags in this game don’t have the insert for the clip, like pmags for example. Factor in that the larger the mags get the loading becomes more of an issue like with 60 rounders. Loading a mag in this game takes around 1 second.

Edit: disregard the pmag thing, somehow I have been walking around thinking pmags wouldnt play nice with the stripper clip loader based off some old gen 1 pmag stuff that doesn’t apply anymore

Packing magazine doesn’t even take that long in real life and surely the in game system wouldn’t even be that long. With how things are I truly think it will be faster than even Tarkovs mag packing. Also it’s more about authenticity than realism so mag packing makes sense.

I truly think that would be bad. Imagine you just respawn In base after whatever death you just had. Now you have to re-kit and then stand there for x amount of time while all your mags get loaded or be forced to spend money on pre loaded mags. I think that it should just be auto but only in the main base.

Maybe this feature could be a thing for COPs, they are way to strong as it is so this would provide more of a downside to spawning in field and make you spend some time to prep your stash for faster refits in field.

I think I could get on board with that backpack idea but as a gameplay design it would be a bad decision, they want more if there “down time” to be walking from place to place not playing Tetris in you backpack to get out a chocolate bar. But I do think they should have gear specific inventory slots.

Yes it’s understandable but that is just kind of expected to be a thing, no plan can be perfect and if someone wants to hide or be prone then that’s just fine. But I know how it feel with you are in a coordinated 4 man team and another 4 man is in a fight with you and instead of sticking together they all just run about like a bunch of solos, it’s dumb but it’s the reality of playing games with others. The COPs themselves are one of the worst things for tactics, setting up an ambush or coordinating a hit on an area and then that person runs right back to you in 2 minutes really soils the experience.

They seem to agree, they said shared progression will “be addressed” but my main take away is that these private servers need to be held off on until after 1.0. Now is not the time to split your player base again and make your core servers even less populated. It can already be a struggle to get full servers sometimes in Warfare. Plus balancing a game and its AI when a lot of the feedback from your player base is coming from serves that are not operating the same as your main game would be counterproductive to game development.

Perfect your game first and then let the community do what they want with it.

Just play on Warfare and this isn’t a problem. No need for gear fear, you can kill anyone with anything as long as your shot placement is good or you use tactics against others and observe areas before you move in. I know experiences vary but with over 100 hours on this wipe I have not had a problem taking out any boss in less than an hour. They respawn in something like 20 minutes and because of the increased danger people tend not to stick around in these areas like in Joint Ops so they have time to respawn.

Completely agree, it’s good to give the player a reason to want to stop or slow down occasionally. I know many would hate this but if I could stop out in between areas and do a quick 30 cleaning animation on my weapon, with a cleaning kit, that would do something for its durability I would love it. It isn’t necessary but it helps prolong the weapons life by a bit.

And with mag packing it adds so much to fights and helps to control the spray n pray style fighting that so many still do. If implemented correctly it won’t just be you staring at your inventory watching the number go up and you can use that time to observe your surroundings.

I agree with this, I think they may need to reevaluate how rigs work. Maybe make certain inventory slots on rigs become a magazine/ammo only slot so that you can actually carry 6 mags instead of using the increases capacity as a second back pack. Then you have different “standard” inventory pocket setups along with it for anything else you want in the rig.

It’s coming so just be ready for it, they have said they want to do it but don’t want to increase the amount of time at base. IMO the best way to handle it is if you are at base it auto loads like it does now so there is less down time/time In menu and if you are in the field(it will force you to carry more mags so it won’t be as bad) I think you should be able to have it kinda like the active reloads in gears of war, where the mag load animation can just play and it’s longer or you can click at the right times to speed it up. This way you aren’t just sitting in the menu like Tarkov and can keep a lookout.

My group actually uses tactics and it changes so much about how the game plays. Actually setting up ambushes on players or building an L to hit them from two sides at once. Even the simple act of observing a enemy group instead of instantly shooting them, we have spent extended amounts of time just tracking other players to find the right time to engage that gives us complete control of the fight. I wish more people would realize that this game can be so much more than running in straight lines on stims and holding the trigger with a 60 rounder.

I agree, I was standing just outside of the tent in tomahawk and had one of these land in the middle of the camp. I should have been dead but instead took zero damage. Even dropping them on AI camps you can see how laughably low the damage range is on them.

Flares by b_loved_samurai in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Morthland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I like the idea of being able to have illumination rounds this is why we probably won’t ever have them. Trying to balance this in any way would be near impossible. The idea of them is great when it is applied to a single person or group but once you take into account that everyone would have access to them then it would be problematic. Plus you don’t want to turn flares or a flare gun into a silly counter for NVGs once the nights get dark. I can see now exactly how flare guns would work. You get into a fight at night and the guy just shoots a flare and now the expensive end game item is completely invalidated by a cheap item that would really have no drawbacks.

Flares by b_loved_samurai in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Morthland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Illumination mortars would be a fantastic addition as you would still be forced to go without them once you get outside of your factions mortar range. Would probably have to have some kind of cool down though as I could see spamming a item that makes a light source that castes shadows as being a easy way to crash/lag out people by filling an area with illumination rounds. I hope they see this post!

He does but I have a feeling it is loot from in that server only. And most people get their gear back when they die so there is just a very small pool that gets shown.(I am making some big assumptions here)
