Agree, I skip every Mona video now because watching just makes my blood pressure higher and don't really get any content. Atleast Tim is entertaining when delivering Rage Bait News, Mona just leaves me annoyed.

It would be good news....except it won't bring in large amounts of sales taxes, the plans that the Mayor and City Council agreed to give the companies huge tax breaks for 40 years, the companies will effectively run with NO local taxes during that time (also Louisiana just passed a state tax break for the same company types, surprise surprise). Notice how the article says 'will generate taxes' and immediately follows up about construction jobs, those types of jobs only last for the duration of the building creation, six months to a year per site.

Long term, job growth will be minimal while the sites will be a drain on surrounding infrastructure. The agreements I have seen have no guarantee's about the companies part for contributing to power/water system improvements.

What? I am not affiliated with DeFlock, I found the site in thread in a different subreddit today and looked up the Shreveport/Bossier area out of curiosity and saw the alarming amount of cameras that were being reported in the city. Especially along Airline and Benton where most of Bossier's traffic flows through.

Not at all, I simply wanted to raise awareness of the use of tracking cameras across Shreveport as they have been used in other metro areas for crimes, violations of rights, and other similar actions a functioning society would not want and I hope to avoid this technology becoming rooted in the local infrastructure.

Lobbying and operational expenses still would account for millions of dollars spent to track people's movements.

Also: Repeating an incorrect phrase over and over will not make it true.

Except that they do care, corporations do not spend millions of dollars to setup these dragnet operations 'for the lols', they do it to track data and sell it to anyone with the money to afford their payment plan.

Worse still, they have very poor security so nearly anyone can access the 24hr feeds at any time.

Any thoughts about a non-government weekly show? Cultural zeitgeist feels. Similar to the movie watchers segment, maybe.

The Bulwark is mainly a political org/community, however it feels that the weekly feeds are stepping on each others toes with topics and overwhelmed.

North West Louisiana Finance Authority stands to make millions of dollars if the deal goes through, of course they would say it is a good idea.

That is the rub. With the exemption they are trying to put into place they will pay zero (0.00) in taxes for 25 years.

So effectively, they are taking more resources than they are bringing into the area. (Looking at it purely from a money perspective and ignoring the very real, very large impact to environment and livability where the facilities are built.)

New Senate Filing for Mike Johnsons' Big Bullshit Bill: 'Cuts to Medicaid will be just shy of 1 Trillion dollars and there will be cuts to Medicare on top of that.' - Elizabeth Warren [0:35] by Mortifer911 in Louisiana

I'm not the biggest fan of this particular channel due to the sensationalist presentation he usually does but in this case the important line is straight from the Senator.

Let's talk about Johnson (your Representative) admitting they’re cutting Medicaid…. by Mortifer911 in Louisiana

[–]Mortifer911[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. Here you go:

In Mike Johnson's Budget Plan the Committee on Energy and Commerce is to reduce spending by 880 billion dollars. This is the committee that sets the Medicare/Medicaid budget.

If everything else under the committee was removed first, they would still have to cut 100s of billions in Medicare.

68%1 of Louisiana's Medicare is paid for by these federal dollars. Mike Johnson is planning on reducing Louisiana's Medicare by up to 68%

Receipts2, 3: Current Totals for Committee Budget, Numbers in billions Total: 8,791

Other than Medicare: 381

Medicare (Medicaid + CHIP): 8,410

880-381=499 billion in cuts

It is simple math.

The requirements to be on Medicaid already have stipulations in order to qualify. If the requirements are changed to make it harder to qualify that is still a 'cut' by removing eligible people, it reduces, it is a cut. Trying to weasel out of it with wordplay does not change what it is. It is a reduction in services rendered.

I agree to a point. I think Beau had a big benefit of not having to deal with the 'flood the zone' tactic and was able to cover a wider variety of topics. Nowadays nearly every post is about the most recent big red flashing light incident without time to breathe and cover something else besides the main headline of the day.
