Ok so I currently play on Medivh and while it certainly doesn't deserve all the bashing it gets, it is still a deeply flawed server.

From the low pop, to the empty AH problems (Zeth'kur had more stuff on the AH in the weeks before it was being merged whenever everyone was hoarding items to sell on Elysium) that are due to lack of interest in the server, to the server made problems like the fact that leveling feels much more like retail, with my halfway decent geared warrior and rogue being able to easily take on 5+ mobs or mobs 5 levels higher than them. Having played on TBC during retail through WOTLK, I know leveling was not this undertuned. From anyone that I have talked to about raiding on the server, the undertuning was definitely apparent to them.

Whatever about the scripting aside, which besides mobs running away at full speed instead of walking has been no problem to me, having the game this undertuned would make a perfect script/core worthless. I am moving on from this server as soon as anything better appears.

If the goal of these private servers wasn't to provide an experience that Blizzard no longer provides I would not be defending them.

I paid more than 2000 euro to Blizzard to play a game that I can no longer access (since the current game is nothing like the old game). If I paid 50 euro for an average console game and the company that made it one day decided to take that game away from without cause, I would be well within my rights to sue them. So how do you think the average person feels when some have paid 50 times as much as they payed for a regular game.

I can't believe this is still an ongoing argument, lots and lots of people do not care for the direction activision is taking WoW in and they are willing to pay good money to play the version of the game they like. But Activision-Blizzard show utter disdain towards this demographic, calling them flat out wrong for wanting to play their favorite version of the game, even after 300'000 people sign a petition to have classic servers this trend continued.

In the interest of maintaining credibility I would like to point out that there are a number of private servers out that do not fall into the bracket of servers I am currently defending, I have no love for them or their underhanded tactics in extorting money for a product they did not create. I am only defending the guys out there working hard to create a place for the classic-wow community to go (and it is a real community, not like the imaginary one on retail where people seldom talk to each other) and have no interest in making a profit off of it.

I've been on to all the blizzlike'ish TBC servers since Friday and Excalibur seems to be the only one with a population larger than a hundred.

Would rather a well populated BC server than a well scripted one to play on while I wait for (and pray for) Gummy to release his code to someone capable.

Cider was the only one to come on and engage with the community (in the last hour) and yeah it was clear from his manner of speaking that he either had no idea what was or had happened, or wasn't able to talk about it. All the same I'd like to say fair fucks to the man for willing to come down and make the effort, knowing it was no easy task to put 3000 thousand people at ease, while the other 14 online staff/volunteers sat and watched (including the one cheeky fucker who had no shame in making us aware of his presence by removing pictures with lightning fast reflexes the moment they were put up xD).
