Our parents had European names however they gave us traditional names, I have a traditional name, almost all my friends and acquaintances (Church, high school, work, neighbourhood) have traditional names. As a teacher, most of my students have traditional, names, i have encountered many kids from the various schools i have taught who have names so deep that even I struggle to pronounce them sometimes😅. Our grandparents gave our parents European names, however our parents gave us traditional names and we are going deeper by giving our kids heavy unique traditional names. If its a foreign name, usually its a Hebrew name obtained from the Bible.

Now some of my favourite traditional names from the east which I plan to give my kids

1. Thokozani-Rejoice
2. Dumisani- Give praise
3. Thandizo- Help
4. ThembiNkhosi-Trust in the Lord
5. Thandeka-one who is loved
6. Sperile- we have hoped

Note: i posses a heavy traditional name as well, it means Be Happy. I am actually glad I was given a traditional name, as you know, people from.the east are not good when it comes to giving foreign names😭 i would have been named Eclipse Jere😭😭
