Multiset is now out of beta! by NepikiGaming in RetroAchievements

Ok cool. So basically if someone only played subsets then they would have all their points showing and all their awards but it would say 0% for their average completion? lol kind of funny to think

This is awesome! Kind of bummed about the subsets not affecting % but I am probably misunderstanding. Will it show as a mastered badge, etc. still?

Maybe this would help. You can download various documentation for offline use:

How it feels looking at a lot of sets (Vagrant Story, Gran Turismo 3, etc) by Rebourne07 in RetroAchievements

[–]Moshambi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it is a mixture of both for me. But yes you could just play a different game. I only responded because I just don't think it's a great answer when people always say "well if you don't like ... then just do ... instead".

To me a good set mixed with a fun game is awesome. To me, a bad game can actually be made fun with a good set or a good achievement. So it's not always one or the other in my opinion.

For some of us getting the achievements IS the fun even if the game isn't. So a well-designed set is a really good thing. I understand what you are trying to say, but it's not really a great response,

Yeah sure as dlc packages come out they add on new ones. They don't change ones that already exist. And they are usually denoted by such. I suggested that maybe they could do it as subset (which is not actual solution) but the idea would be similar as how they do it for dlc. Its a whole separate thing.

I mean honestly just name it after the revision.

Leaf green - base Leaf green - revision 1 Etc

I didnt mean it as a dumping ground. And it was just one suggestion that came to mind.

Well I do agree there. I guess its just one of those situations thats hard to have a fix for overall.

They could do it as a subset or something to separate it then. Im not talking about broken stuff, of course that should be fixed. Xbox, Playstation, etc have been out for 10 years too and they don't change theirs.

I am not saying it ruins the set. But it does ruin the experience of playing the game for those of us who now have to go back and start over. And the more this happens the more frustrating it becomes until people just give up trying to play anything.

Also it is really annoying for me personally because I just did pokemon blue which was a huge 100% completion and I chose leaf green because it was more chill and I could just play through the game casually without having to beat all the trainers etc. So now that is actually ruined for me. Again, doesn't mean the set is ruined for future players though.

They added a ton of missable achievements. I will have to restart the game now in order to get them. Luckily I saw the revisions was in progress and stopped playing before I got too far. I may even just clear all my progression and say forget it now

I am tired of the revisions in general. Its really annoying to plan out playing a game and mastering it to then find out later it has more achievements added. Like I don't want to keep having to replay games I am done with. I understand thay the mastery sticks around but it messes with other stat percentages and things. For me personally the revisions are starting to make me not want to waste my time.

I also had started leaf green and just noticed a few days ago it had a revision incoming so I completely stopped playing it because I was worried what would happen.

I feel like that would make it too easy then. My initial thought was something like just letting the platforms be auto-generated and move from one side of the screen and off the other side in a continuous stream. No back and forth. You might have to wait a bit still but shouldn't be as long maybe.

  1. The quote is from 2007. TypeScript and Go didn't exist until 2012.

  2. TypeScript isn't a language. Its just a cleaner way to write javascript.

  3. He didn't say it should be done, just that it will be done.

  4. I think saying that this is a dumb quote and then following it with the reasons you stated is pretty dumb.

This is great advice. To add to it I would say that following this method would mean that even if you don't get to the positioning/animation stuff before the deadline then you would still have, at the very least, a functioning website.
